question regarding what counts as commercial use

Hello,

I realize a lot of UTAU voicebanks require permission for commercial use, but I feel that "commercial use" is a broad and vague term. I wanted some clarification on what is considered commercial use of a voicebank.

Let's say you're making a game that features original songs using UTAU voicebanks. Let's also say that you plan to release these songs onto a public platform like YouTube for free, and you plan on selling the game for money. Am I correct in assuming that this counts as a commercial use of a voicebank?

You're still using the voicebanks as part of a commercial project, so yes, that would count. There are also other edge cases I would count as commercial use, such as UTAU videos with advertisements that you collect ad revenue from, or content that you share exclusively with paid supporters like on Patreon.
