Hello Utaforum,
I’ve been thinking of doing a channel refresh. Even though I love UTAU and love creating voicebanks, trying to keep up with the fandom and covering every song the moment it comes out has been really difficult for me. Making covers just isn’t fun for me anymore- I hate dealing with optimizing them for an algorithm that works against them, obsessively checking YouTube to see if any new songs are getting popular, and feeling forced to use the popular voicebanks in order for my covers to get any traction at all. It’s upsetting working days and even weeks on a cover just for it to flop and die. At this point, it’s gotten hard to even open UTAU. The popular songs give me headaches, and even the ones I used to love feel dry and overplayed.
I’m not in any way going to quit making voicebanks and quit being active here. Beyond my real-life friends, Utaforum is the best, healthiest way I can spend my time. It’s an absolute pleasure helping solve people’s issues and discussing voicebanks and songs, much better for my mental health than going down drama rabbit holes that, in the end, serve no purpose but to make me feel terrible after the fact. Plus, I’ve already committed to that 14-pitch English bank, I can’t let you guys down. I’m just taking an extended break from being an UTAU-centric YouTube channel, since life’s already overwhelming enough.
Even though I’m stepping away from making UTAU content, I’ll still be making and releasing voicebanks. That’s the part I’ve always loved the most—recording, otoing, and designing characters. I’m just going to be moving at a pace that works better for me, without the pressure to constantly stay in the mainstream.
I’ll be switching to gaming content going forward. That’s the niche I’m most comfortable in: the pace is more relaxed, ideas come easier, and I’ll have more time to study between uploads. I also plan to be a kid-friendly creator. Because of that, there are a few covers I’m no longer comfortable having visible on my channel. I’m not deleting anything outright, but I’ll be reorganizing things a bit.
These covers will be unlisted and added to a public playlist for posterity:
Thanks for reading and for being such a supportive community. I’m still here, just shifting my focus toward what I think is better for me.
