UTAUloid will only make sounds, not words.

I'm very new to UTAU. I recently transferred the UTAU Synth application to my new MacBook, and I am unable to make any UTAUloid, including Defoko, say full words. They will only say the first Japanese symbol of the word I am trying to make them say (eg. if I put in a word beginning with 'あ' the UTAUlois would only say the 'あ'). Please can anyone help?

You have to split each sound up into its own note (did you type a full word into a single note?)

Yup! I think Vocaloid is capable of working with full words, but for Utau, you construct the words from the sounds and blend them together : )

UTAU doesn't work with full words, it works with sounds. Japanese utaus work by syllables. If you want to form the word "kotoba" You'll have to introduce:

"ko" then "to" then "ba"
