What does STP do?

Positive STP chops off some of the consonant. That's why if you have long consonant sounds, short notes, and hit ACPT, STP will show up as positive - it's automatically reducing consonant length.
If you want to adjust STP yourself, keep in mind that it will change the note timing. Adjust Preutterance by the same amount to keep the timing the same (ex. change STP by +30, change Preutterance by -30).

STP means starting point. The value of STP is added to the offset of the oto, so it can be positive or negative. Preutterance and overlap are measured from the starting point, so if you manually change STP you need to adjust both of those accordingly.

UTAU will automatically change STP, preutterance, and overlap on very short notes, but these changes are invisible. If you want to see the exact numbers, press ACPT to stamp them on the note properties.
