What's the easiest way to make a CVVC Japanese UST?

I always have trouble making USTs for CVVC Japanese voicebanks because its so time-consuming and tiring so I keep asking myself if there's something I'm doing wrong!
Here's my step-by-step process in making a UST:

1. I place notes directly in the UTAU editor where the CV and VC notes would be.
2. I type the lyrics into the notes one-by-one (I have "Press Enter to input lyrics" on.)
3. I cross-fade the notes.
4. I adjust the VC notes' lengths, sort of like how you would adjust the VEL in VOCALOID4 but pretty tiring.
5. I apply pitch bends and vibratos.

That's basically it but a 10 second sample would take me literal 30 minutes so I thought that I must be missing a step.

I would suggest the following workflow instead:
1. Insert notes for whole syllables, without pre-dividing them (ie. CV notes only). You could prepare this as a midi in a DAW, which allows you to trace the melody from the original song more quickly and avoid dealing with UTAU's rest notes.
2. Input the lyrics in hiragana in the long textbox in the toolbar. You can convert the lyrics from how they're normally written to hiragana-only using this tool:

However, you should double check the conversion by listening to the original song before you insert it into UTAU. Once the lyrics are in the text box, you can select all the notes and press the button to insert the lyrics.
3. If you don't want to adjust the VCs, you can use presamp to automatically insert them whenever you play the UST: https://ch.nicovideo.jp/delta_kimigatame/blomaga/ar477661
However, if you want them to be visibly inserted into the UST as actual separate notes, use the autoCVVC plugin: https://ch.nicovideo.jp/delta_kimigatame/blomaga/ar1172141
4. Finish tuning the UST as you normally would.

Hello, does the autoCVVC plugin work with romaji otos?

You will have to configure the presamp.ini to fit that voicebank, so yes.

The official specifications for the presamp.ini are posted here: https://ch.nicovideo.jp/delta_kimigatame/blomaga/ar483589

If you're familiar with deepvocal dictionaries, you can use this tool to convert from that to presamp.ini. https://github.com/sdercolin/PresampIniHelper
However, you will probably have to make adjustments afterwards for more natural results, such as with the length of VC notes.

You don't need to worry, I plan on moving out next year as soon as I finish my degree. Living here is a temporary arrangement.
If you need a Japanese to English translation of the presamp.ini specification we can put it on the TUBS translation to do list.

Sorry I'm really not familiar with a lot of UTAU terms but, what is the TUBS translation?
