Yokune Ruko won't work...

So I downloaded Ruko (male) and tried to use him on OpenUTAU. The track wouldn't play. I had this problem before with Kasane Teto (English) but I fixed the issue easily. I couldn't find how to fix it anywhere, so I asked it to load an error log and it said that there are no sound files, yet there were when I actually went into the files. I do realise that the download for him was quicker than Teto's. It also said that the Oto is in the wrong format, too.

I do want him to speak English but I don't know how to change him into Romaji.

I don't know how to resolve the issue. I will try downloading him again. Do any of you know how to fix it? Here is a picture of his files compared to Teto.

this seems like its an issue with your computers locale. the characters that read Þ¥¿Ř§ŮŠ舐 —‚�ا٩ (like this) are called mojibake, and theyre caused by incorrect text encoding (in this case, switching alphabets).

here is how you can change your computers locale, it wont change the computers default language settings

after that, remove your voicebanks and redownload them, they should work after that!

For OpenUtau you don't actually need to change locale. How did you install ruko? Did you Drag and Drop into the program, or use the Install Singer option? Something else?

Edit: Also for English you don't want to change them to romaji. You can use the EN to JA phonemizer to allow you to write english lyrics and have them automatically convert into similar sounding Japanese phonemes.

Is there a particular reason you downloaded specifically CV ruko male btw? If that was intentional thats fine.

This is the only one I could find on the website that was his normal voicebank. I doubled checked and it is the official website I downloaded it from.

I downloaded it from that link again, still only took a second to download, somethings up with the download itself, nothing to do with me I guess. Have you had any luck downloading him?

looks corrupted, change your system local to Japanese and reinstall the VB and see if it works

This isn't corrupted per se, just mojibake. When you install via Install Singer or drag and drop into OpenUtau, it should give you a pop up that lets you correct the encoding. If you remove the old Ruko folder and re-install this, can you screenshot the encoding window that it shows? It should be shift-JIS both times.

If you have to, changing your locale will also fix it as other have said. But it's unexpected that you would need to do this.
