Is there any way I can help out in the UTAU community?

I'm pretty much horrible at most UTAU things. I'm not very good at making my own USTs, UTAUs and stuff like that. But, I wanna be active and help out in the community. Is there anything I can do to help out in general?

The things a person can do to help out this community...is to create and be a positive influence.

You're going to make shitty voicebanks. Shitty covers. Shitty music, whatever. You're going to have many ideas on how to further UTAU and many ideas for fun things you want to do with UTAU. Most of those ideas will suck, or be already done, or refuted, or just have a much easier way.

But...if no crap were made, then what's the point? It's like the perfect heroine: Sure, she always wins flawlessly, but it's so...boring. Where is the struggle that actually triggers the need for progress?

This is why creation is so important, even if you are bad at it. If you enjoy creating with UTAU, then you should try to focus your energies on that and trying to push your craft a little further each time, even if it is miniscule. Share your ideas with the world, no matter how bad they seem; you may have a breakthrough sometime.

The other part, which is much simpler yet very difficult at the same time, is to be a positive influence on the community. You want to be the person that people look forward to seeing online. Be friendly even to assholes, unless you truly need to throw the hammer down; Rather, don't stoop down to their level. Make friends with other UTAU users. While you cannot be friends with everyone, you want to be a classy, friendly sort as much as possible. Or, just simply: someone that people want to be around.

We all need encouragement as UTAU users. Many voices and songs go unnoticed. While only a few could be popular, a simple yet well-thought-out comment can really make a person's day. This is something I work on myself, honestly, being that positive force; I'm someone who is kinda avoidant.

That is my opinion on being a help in the community. I might seem too idealistic, but it is how I see it. Good luck to you!

Maybe you can help those who have projects going by acting as promoter? Do you participate in social networking (facebook, twitter, google+, etc.?)? If so, then there are plenty of people working on big things who need an extra hand in making it known in different parts of the community. That's just one thing you can do, but I also offer the following: there are plenty of aspects of UTAU beyond just the making of banks and USTs. Find something among the following skills and see if that's something you'd like to improve upon: Video Production, Music Composition, MMD, Lipsync, Lyricist, Artwork, or even just making covers with other banks that aren't your own. This last one is a big help to the community. A lot of people create banks and distribute them only to get no response or it's lukewarm at best. It's easy for your average user to get discouraged - maybe even give up UTAU all together - when they feel that something they worked hard on is just ignored. Even a cover that isn't that great can make someone's day and that positive energy is tantamount to a thriving community.

Thank you very much! All of this is really helpful, and true!

There's this person who has, ever since I first started, been commenting on my covers, praising what they found nice. Just that has made me so happy, just this one person has helped and supported me in that way. :3 shoutout to Murphy woop woop
I find that's amazing. :3

I'm a little late to this but I also want to contribute with my point of view.

Basically is pretty much what @Tsukine Sayuri and @GothAmaterasu said, but here it goes.

UTAU (and Vocaloid, too) is a place filled up with creators, that's amazing. I hardly believe there is another place so full of people doing stuff in any other fandom. However, because there are so many creators, there are not enough people to enjoy all of the stuff that comes out.

That's why, even if you can't truly do anything, don't feel bad! Being a fan in here can be hella helpful too, more than you can imagine.

In this wide fandom, there are tons of people who work hard on their works, let it be covers, let it be originals, or whatever. With just noticing someone's work, paying them attention and giving feedback, you are helping out.

If you are still worried because you want to do stuff and don't know what, don't get stressed. While you observe other people's works and the fandom, you can learn useful stuff on your own. This way you can get some kind of "experience", from a passive point of view, and pulish your skills at the same time ☆. It's always good to have an idea of what to do and what not before jumping into the stage ☆☆

As said frequently above, really the best way to help out in the community is just to contribute yourself and share content.

In terms of "helping out" tbh it comes down to an individual level? Make friends and then see what they could benefit from.
Tho I wouldn't reccomend taking on too much at once, (got caught out with that in the beginning myself taking on a lot of UST requests from people ;x; got stressed out pretty fast by that)

As long as you're enjoying yourself I'd say that's all that matters tbh ;a; UTAU's not any different from other fandoms in that those that participate are the lifeblood of the community, we're always up for more people getting involved any way they can :creepy:

Really all I can do is rehash a lot of what others have said!! I'll make some neato bullet points though
  • promoting other peoples work, covers, UTAU, originals, etcetera to help them get more views and more attention
  • critiquing other peoples work, covers, UTAU, etcetera in order to help them improve
  • participating in community events like collaborations
  • participating by offering design work, offering to voice an UTAU, offering to give something to a project
  • creating content and material other UTAU users can use such as USTs, translations, resources, etcetera
There's quite a lot you can do other than just making USTs or UTAU!!
