    Well, no point in beating around the bush here; I converted a VSQx from VOCALOID V4 to UST, and I followed the instructions to do this to the letter, but I can't fit the UTAUloid to the UST!

    I created the VSQx myself in V4 (via my friend as he purchased it a while back and taught me the basics of using it) with Ruby to use in a song. I found out I couldn't release the song for sale unless I purchased everything myself, so I turned to UTAU because I just can't afford V4 or any of the voicebanks or whatever it is you have to pay for. I found an UTAUloid I like, got permission to use her how I had intended to use Ruby, and I converted the VSQx to UST with UtaFormatix (tried ImportVSQx and it didn't do a damn thing!). It loads, it shows the lyrics, but the 'loid only reacted to two notes/syllables, and not even properly.

    Did a little more research, turned out I needed to fit the voicebank to the UST.

    Didn't change a thing.

    I can't figure out what to do here, everything I find is too complicated for me to understand as a brand new, just-got-the-program-working-today user. I even did the locale thing, which solved the first issue of my chosen UTAUloid not making sound at all, but it just won't do what I want/need it to. Can anyone help me, either by explaining very clearly (as in how you would explain it to a child to make sure I don't misunderstand anything) how to fix this or, if it just can't be done, re-converting it into a usable UST?

    I'm using Hanami Hoshino by Lotte V, which is apparently a VCCV voicebank (I don't know what the difference between any of the types are but I'm pretty sure it's relevant).

    Thank you in advance for any advice, tips, and/or proposed solutions whether they help or not! It's absolutely appreciated!

    :annoyed:
    Well, that would’ve been helpful information in the tutorials I read/watched haha. I wasn’t aware. I did try doing that, but I can’t find the right phonetics for the sounds I want. By pure dumb luck I was able to make the first part of the first (one syllable) word work, but I can’t get the second one figured out. I’ll take a look at that and see if it’s any help and report back. Thanks!

    Still not working. I can only get one or two sounds total and still can't find half the ones I need. I can't even make the one sound I had figured out work now. Either I'm an idiot, I'm missing something, or UTAU is just broken.

    Can you share a screencap of your UST so far?

    The one converted from the VSQx or my attempt at just starting from scratch? Because if it's the second one, I've got nothing to show lol. If it doesn't work, I delete it and try again.

    The one you started from scratch, ideally. If you don't have that, then I want to see the converted one.

    I just try the first word from scratch, then delete it and try again when it doesn't work, so I can't screenshot that, but this is the converted thing. I even input your example of "vocaloid" and it didn't want to sound out half of it.

    IDK if this has been rendered outdated or not (I haven't looked at UTAU English for a long time now), but these phonetics are from the tutorial CZ gave on VCCV:

    vowels:

    a = bot/bar
    e = bet
    i = bit
    o = boot
    u = but
    E = bead
    9 = bought/soft
    3 = bird
    @ = bat
    A = bake
    I = bike
    O = boat
    8 = bout
    Q = boy
    6 = book/could/put
    x = about (the a)
    &[m/n] = band/man/Sam
    8n = bound/sound
    1[ng/nk] = blink/ink
    Ang = bank
    0[r/l] = bore/bowl
    9l = ball

    consonants:

    b = bet
    d = debt
    f = fed
    g = get
    j = jet
    k = kept
    p = pet
    s = set
    t = ten
    v = vet
    z = zed
    ch = check
    dh = this
    sh = shed
    th = think
    zh = genre
    h = head
    l = let
    m = met
    n = net
    r = red
    w = wet
    y = yet
    dd = meddle
    sk = skill
    sp = spill
    st = still
    sm = smell
    sn = sniff
    hh = hue
    ng/nk = sing/sink

    The way UTAU works is that you'll have to split the real words up into sounds that a given voicebank will be able to replicate. [Some] [one] [please] [save] [me] [from] [my] [self] will become (roughly) [su] [u m] [w u] [u n] [pl E] [E s] [sA] [A v] [mE] [ fr 6] [6 m] [mI] [se] [e lf]. To reiterate what @partial said: UTAU works differently from Vocaloid. With Vocaloid, you can type in real words and you will get a sound out of it. UTAU works purely on the phonetic level and it hates duplicates (hence why there's a bazillion ways to type sounds for the letter A - in English Vocaloid, getting the right A sound is simply a matter of referring to the dictionary and changing to the desired phonetic sound, you don't need to type a word in a particular fashion to get the sounds you need).

    I tried using that exact guide when the videos I was linked didn't help. I did understand it's different, but that's the only thing I could screenshot to show. If I didn't already have my funds tied to something else, I'd just give in and shell out the money for Ruby/V4, that was a lot easier to use...Thank you, though ^^; I input that into UTAU and it didn't make a single sound. Not a peep. Do the brackets have to be used, or am I just seriously doing something wrong here?

    No, the brackets don't need to be used, they're just my text representation of notes.

    Can you screencap the OTO of the vb you're using?

    I am learning how this system of English works on the fly, but I was able to get results.

    vccv eng how to.PNG

    https://clyp.it/dxsioavm?token=a71b83b49b970bcd1fc1a0466468753e - results. IDK if it sounds any good, but these are the best results I can make without playing around with Consonant velocity or any plugins. As you can see, I've had to break up the real words into many little notes that can be interpreted as the sounds I needed. It's not very intuitive, so don't worry if it takes a while for you to get the hang of. You'll definitely want to learn your shortcuts and key combos cause they will be a lifesaver.

    I think you should use a plugin called LyricParser 2.0 (I hope the name is correct). This plugin helps you to convert words into phonemes. I always use them. But, not all words are available. At some point, you should edit it yourself if the word is unavailable. I don't have the link, so you might wanna google that.

    Actually, that’s EXACTLY how it’s supposed to sound! Identical to what it sounds like in Vocaloid! Thank you so much!!!
