Hi there! I'm pretty new to UTAU so I wanted to see what some good USTs to practice making covers/tuning/etc. would be. If this is a silly question feel free to say so! I wouldn't be surprised if there was no such thing as a "beginner UST". Thank you!

Using premade USTs in general is "beginner"-level UTAU usage, though of course it's still very useful to people with years of experience who need the convenience instead of having to make a new UST from scratch.
Listen to the cover made with that UST and you might want to look for ones with simpler-sounding tuning (less impressive, less realistic singing). That way, it's more likely that the UST will only have the basic notes and lyrics and won't be clogged up with lots of special extra samples for specific voicebanks. Ideally, you could find USTs that are completely untuned. If you are interested in learning those complex techniques, or how to use specific voicebanks, then of course you can go ahead and download fully tuned USTs.
