How do i reply to myself instead of adding to my post?

So, I see many people replying to themselves on this website, and it seems like a pretty practical way to add posts to a thread. However, when I try to do it (wether it's via. Quick or Full Reply), it simply adds to my post and I have no idea how to fix it. Help ???

I'm probably just missing smoething simple or making a stupid mistake.

Like, this should be a new thread, but instead it just sticks a stupid line under my older post and adds this post to it

I think it is like that to save space or to avoid useless spamming. To make it separate There should be a time gap between them
