What is the unit for the length of a note/rest?

You know when you're in UTAU, & you go to "Length" in the right click list when you select something, & then a box pops up with a number, signifying how long that note is?

Yeeaaah, well what is the unit of that number? & what is it in relation to seconds, or better yet beats/measures (like in sheet music)?

480 is equal to one quarter note, 240 is equal to an eight note, 960 is equal to a half note, etc.
