How to (quickly) get good frequencies

How to (quickly) get good frequencies

What are frequencies?

When creating a UTAU, the first thing to do is generate the frequencies for all the files. Frequencies are the resampler's analysis of the voice sample, which provides the pitch information. When generating frequencies, the resampler can obtain data from the logical ranges and avg freq (voice bank pitch).

To generate a SINGLE frequency we must select the phoneme and "initialize freq map", and to generate ALL frequencies, we must left click > select multi > Ctrl + A > initialize freq map, and the resampler will start working.

Why is it useful to edit them?

Frequencies can often have severe distortions, which can completely ruin a phoneme. Common distortions include peaks both upward and downward, strange shapes, and parts that drop for pronounced durations.

Whether or not the frequencies are edited can be an important factor for the quality of the voicebank, if the frequencies are too distorted, it can cause the voicebank to break completely.

How to edit them?

Select the phoneme and go to "edit freq map." This interface will appear.
To achieve good frequencies, select a flat start and a flat end.

At that point, we'll press "avg" and the program will fix the defect.
A good frequency looks flat and when rendering the phoneme it sounds correct.

Other things you can do are lower the frequencies with the "/2" button and lower them even further with the "/3" button. You can do the same, but raise them, with "X2" and even higher with "X3." While the "-" button directly eliminates the frequency, which is useful for silences.

I hope this tutorial has helped you improve your voice bank. I use them a lot, so I hope it has helped.
