Not sure if this is categorized correctly. The story is that I have my eyes on a new laptop, which runs windows 8. I tried googling this, and it says that a lot people have trouble with utau on windows 8,like their notes dissapearing.Did you have any trouble?

UTAU works pretty fine for me on Windows 8, but you have to run it as an administrator to be able to use plugins and (I think) other resample engines besides resampler.exe.

I'm using 8.1 and UTAU runs perfectly fine. Like KiiDOS said, I recommend running it as adm inistrator for as few problems as possible. The biggest problem you'll run into is oto edits and frq creation. You can bypass this if you don't put your voicebanks in the voice folder created or move it outside of Program Files (x86)/UTAU - the UAC is much more annoying when voices are in the programs directory. You can't even edit otos or text files and save them without getting Access Denied. Vocaloid runs equally fine and doesn't require running as admin (you may want to install the voice in admin though just to make sure). I don't use MMD, so I can't say whether it runs without issues or not.

Yup, everything runs fine for me, I have 8.1. The specific program versions I have are- VOCALOID3 (Ver 3.1.1.0), UTAU ver 0.4.18, and MMD 9.08.

I run UTAU version 4.18 and MMM version 1.2.3.6 on Windows 8 64 bit. They work fine, (MMM still needed some old add-ons). Also If you use UTAU and you put in your Program folder(s), make sure you give yourself (either your account or the all the accounts on your computer, if there's more than one account) permission to read, edit and write folders or you won't be able to save and edit things like your oto.ini of your voicebanks.
