How do I use Kasane Teto?

Hello! I'm extremely/completely new to using vocal synthesizers, and haven't made music/done vocal tuning before (also unfamiliar with computers in general so uh... I'm pretty lost)
I want to try to use Kasane Teto UTAU on OpenUTAU, both Japanese and English. I downloaded both from https://kasaneteto.jp/utau/, being OpenUTAU用日本語統合ライブラリー and 英語音源ライブラリー (and the 'TTEnglishInputHelper'), and I have the software OpenUTAU (v0.1.529.0) installed. I've installed both singers... What do I do past this?

If you want to get different resamplers, you would have to click WORLDLINE-R and change it to CLASSIC. Once you click CLASSIC, you can click on the gear to pull up the resampler menuScreenshot 2025-05-21 081511.png(<-- it should look something like this)have fun!!

The window you currently see that says "Track settings" and "No settings for this renderer" is nothing much. Since OpenUTAU uses WORLDLINE-R as the default resampler, the window just indicates that there are no other settings you could set for the renderer!

You should also learn about OpenUTAU's "phonemizer" (It's the thing where it says "JA VCV & CVVC" on Track 1 and "DEFAULT" on Track 2). It just automatically converts normal hiragana word input into the intended input for the specific voicebank. I'm not really good at explaining this, but the best way to understand is to try it yourself! You could also look up more information on the internet by searching for "OpenUTAU phonemizer" or you could look at a documentation here: https://deepwiki.com/stakira/OpenUtau/6.1-core-phonemizer-architecture

By the way, you're kinda using Teto wrong in this case. The Teto you have right now is her English voicebank, so you should use the EN Arpasing phonemizer. You just need to go to "DEFAULT > More... > EN: English > EN ARPA: EN Arpasing phonemizer." By doing this, you'll be able to type in normal English words and have OpenUTAU do the input for you.

UTAU in general is a bit complicated to get used to in general, so I highly recommend learning the basics of it and most importantly, Voicebank types and how they work. There may be a lot of OpenUtau tutorials on YouTube, but I'd recommend gaining some background knowledge about UTAU and maybe try out the original software. I would recommend Yuunarii's UTAU tutorials since it would give you a bit is idea on how some things in UTAU work.

I should mention that tuning is a skill you'll obtain over time. Just keep using the software and watch some tutorials if you feel lost.

OpenUTAU also has a Discord server too so if you need technical help with something, you could head on over there! Here's the link: https://discord.gg/JzCPc29fuA

This is really wordy so please excuse me on that :bigtears:. But I do hope you could understand what I'm trying to say.

Huge thanks to every user who replied! I didn't expect help this quick.
Unfortunately, my brain is slower than this computer, so I don't understand much

I'll try to follow all advice tomorrow

The comment by Gavincaobachtung is mostly correct, but Teto's English voicebank doesn't actually use the ARPAsing phonemizer. She uses the X-SAMPA phonemizer.

Also, Teto's English is considered one of the most frustrating and difficult voicebanks to use, second only to Hakaine Maiko (screamo bank), so I'd recommend you try another voicebank. Foreign English banks tend to be a little finnicky- the only ones I use on a daily basis are Kazehiki and Gekiyaku.

UTAU wiki is your friend

Could you recommend any English voicebanks (if you have any recommendations)?

I also checked out Kazehiki and Gekiyaku, I love their designs/illustrations (both UTAU and V6)! Though it seems their English voicebanks are no longer available to download? Might be wrong, just saw that on the wiki
Also tried looking through characters on the UTAU wiki but got lost

CZloid is a classic and really easy to use. Arachne’s English bank is great but is also over 2 gigabytes large and her voice provider is a pretty unsavory person (not cancelled or anything, just pretty opinionated). Tsubasa Arugo and Shiro sound good, too.

As for Gekiyaku and Kazehiki, only Gekiyaku’s English bank was taken down. You can access their voicebank downloads by going to their website and reading their terms of use. There should be a button close to the bottom that says ‘Yes’- that takes you to the download page.

26 is very beginner friendly (With Moresampler).

His voicebank comes with mixing tips/settings, a usage & Installation guide, and art for covers!
