I still don't know what flags are (OpenUtau)

I feel like I should know what flags are at this point but I am still very confused about where I can even find them.
The flags listed in the AICA readme are "BOF1 (fresamp) ; g-4 (sweeter tone)" but I don't know where to find these flags? I initially guessed that I'd find them in the CLR tab since the tutorial I'm following seems to have something similar, with the user being able to choose the tone (something I really need as I need to shift my piece's tone into something softer since the freesamp resampler (the recommended sampler for AICA) has a smoother render in comparison to worldline but is super sharp and high pitched in comparison.)

Do I need to go into the expressions page and add these flags myself for them to show up in the CLR tab? Or am I completely misunderstanding this?

The CLR tab is for Voice Colours (Appends) or Sub-Voices. You can set them up (if you have them) in Tools>Singers>Select your singer>Edit Sub-Banks>Add Colour>Name the colour>Select All>Add in the prefix/suffix>Set. If each append has multiple pitches that works too, instead of selecting all set the prefix/suffix for each note range accordingly.

If you want those specific settings that you mentioned though you'd have to add the F flag as an expression (Name it Formant), set the min to 0 and max to 1 and set the default as 1 and then change the default value of Gender to -4 (this will affect all tracks in the project, but it's the easiest way to set an exact number for every note). The B flag is already in OpenUTAU and it's default is set to 0 from the start.

Thanks so much for your answer, but can you elaborate? I'm still very new to this
How do I know if I have voice colours?
What is the F flag and what does it do? Is it the " g-4 (sweeter tone)" the AICA readme mentioned?
Will setting the default value of gender to -4 soften the voice?
What does the B flag do?

(sorry if the answer to these questions is obvious, I'm just struggling to wrap my head around this stuff)

You're welcome!

I've downloaded AICA's multi-pitch VCV to take a quick look, it doesn't have voice colours but it does have more than one pitch recorded (which works off the bat in OpenUTAU so it's nothing to worry about or set up)

The F Flag is for Formant, I'm not 100% sure what it does but it can help voicebanks sound more natural if it's set to F1 in Fresamp.
The B flag is for breathiness, so higher values can soften the bank but it doesn't always sound good and can make the voice weaker.
The g-4 won't soften the voice, but it will pitch it up while keeping it in key.

If you want a softer voicebank, AICA has a Momo Append which is advertised as a "Peachy Whisper" voice if that's more suited to the song that you're covering.

Ah I probably should have specified I'm using AICAs' english vccv which is monopitch according to the readme, sorry for not stating that earlier. I'm going to assume that it doesn't have any colours either considering that it doesn't mention it in the readme.
Also thanks for telling me about the B flag, it certainly looks very useful, I messed around with it just now, though I do agree that it doesn't quite sound right. I feel like just rendering it using worldline achieves softer results than cranking up the breathiness on freesamp (though I probably will still have to use freesamp considering worldline keeps making these weird popping noises on certain notes, from my understanding openutau allows you to switch resamplers using the ENG tab, so I'll be doing that)

I specifically need an English vccv so I don't think I'd be able to use AICA's peachy whisper, but if you know any other soft voicebanks I'd love to hear them ^_^
