What is the non unicode language setting on both computers? Make sure that both of them are set to Japanese.
What tool are you using to create the zip file? Try using 7zip to create the zip file on the original computer, transfer the files with some physical media (like a USB thumb drive), and use 7zip to decompress it on the second computer.

I was using a phone (running iOS) to transfer the files (yk cuz Rec-lab is a mobile app), and the zip file was created from the files app
If you're talking about the system locale on my computer, then yes, I have it set to Japanese. I'm not so certain about the phone, though. Given that the file names on the phone seem fine, I don't think we should worry about it.
