Friend of the blog, José Lastras, also known as MasterVocaloid or Giuseppe-P has recorded and sequenced a new Vocaloid prototype named “Lucía”. Describing her as “sweet” and “pretty” he released a this playlist to showcase the voicebank’s capabilities. For art end he commissioned two character design concepts from artists Aki Glancy and Riisago respectively.

In the Facebook announcement revealing the project he said he has been in contact with the various companies that are licensed to publish voicebanks (Power-FX, Zero-G, and VoctroLabs) but for the moment they didn’t seem interested in selling it at the moment with Yamaha’s licencing costs being cited as the main limiting factor.

He is asking for feedback and for fans to help spread the word about “Lucía”. Hopefully in the future we will see this Vocaloid on sale. You can read and comment on the full release @ Giuseppe-Ps original Spanish-language Facebook post.

Considering that this is a forum for UTAU users, I'm surprised that nobody is freaking out over the idea of being able to create a vocaloid without already being involved with a company or paying the licensing for release first.

She sounds beautiful, and Riisago's art is lovely.

I haven't been able to post on here for a while. But this is what I've been saying about Lucia in the first place. If you are serious about Vocaloid, you could theoretically contact Anders for the dev kit and develop a Vocaloid. I would be eager to partner with a bunch of other people to create a Vocaloid, like Vocatone, then pitch to sone audio companies for their interest in Vocaloid.

In the end, this might be bad for Yamaha but good at the same time, showing their handling of their own proprietary dev kit is very lax. But it might open new doors to those who wouldve previously thought this thing impossible.

So I see he wanted to pitch Lucia to engloids companies, other than Voctro-Labs, could that be his mistake ? i Know PowerFx and Zero-G aren't interested in making Spanish vocaloids, and ATM Voctro Labs isn't interested in making a new one

Well, sadly Zero-G would be a great choice but at the same time they really emphasized they wanted to focus on only-English voicebanks =S And PwoerFx could, as we saw bilinguality with YOHIOloid, but due to the Ruby drama, it may be too soon (even if it's months away now) to create a new Vocaloid.... Though again, PowerFX said that wouldn't stop them from creating new voicebanks
