My notes arent connected

I just downloaded UTAU today, but when i press my notes to play, it only plays one. I've looked up help for this already, and it says I have to turn on Mode 2, even though I've already done that. I can't figure out what else would be the problem.

Click and drag in the blank area above or below the notes in order to select multiple notes, then play.
