OREMO Guide BGM

I just want to know if anyone else utilizes Oremo's guide BGM feature? It seems like its a much more efficient way to record VCV banks. I'm the only one out of my group of friends who uses it. So yeah.

If you want to know how it works I can post an explanation as well!

I use a metronome, as Guide BGM isn't in the tone I need (and last time I attempted to edit it failed miserably).
So yeah, a metronome and the pitch guide tool, also in OREMO, it just makes a continuous beep on the pitch you choose.

Both are equally efficient, though, I'll agree.

Personally, I CANNOT record VCV without GuideBGM. I use a BGM called One Note Jazz, which has 6 tempos, all pitches, and a set of midi if that still isn't enough. It was made for 7 mora but it has enough recording space for 8, unlike the default BGM. I've also figured out how to create my own BGM and I even have a tutorial in another thread.

In OREMO 3 there's a VCV oto generator, and since there's a consistent amount of empty space before the recording through the whole bank, you can use the generator and get very accurate results. (It only works with hiragana, though.)

@Halo If you're changing the pitch of the BGM, make sure you copy and paste the text file too, and rename it to the same thing as the changed pitch. That's the file that tells OREMO the timings of when to start recording, so it doesn't work without it.

Yeah I honestly think that GuideBGM helps me a LOT with my recording, especially since i have tons of inconsistencies. If you do enough searching, you can find a whole variety of GuideBGM. I believe the creator of Koumi Sen has some that they've made up for download.

I usually use the metronome, but sometimes it's fun to do make guide music by putting a doodle in openMPT or something, something super cheesy and silly : P I think it must have a positive effect on the bank, cause the metronome is nice but I'm always very aware that I'm recording for a UTAU when I do it : P If that makes any danged sense.

I've never figured out how to get guide music to play within OREMO itself. Does it just play on loop, or does it play once when you press the record button?

Well, if you navigate through the drop-down menus , and then select the guideBGM option (Options > Show BGM Guide), it opens another smaller window with the guideBGM interface, like so.

A brief overview of the options presented here.
>Manual Recording: this is the default option. Press R to record.
>Semi-auto Recording: Pressing P will make the guideBGM play once. It's up to you from there, you can listen to your sample to check for recording errors, or you can move on. (This is if you really want to pay attention to detail)
>Automatic Recording: It plays on a loop, and automatically cycles through your reclist and saves recordings. (This is if you want to record a voicebank quickly, and then go back and fix errors later - I use this method~)
>Invalid selection: Idk. I've never selected it tbh .

Then the little box underneath these thingies lets you select which audio file you want to use as a reference.

Hope this helps~

[EDIT: now the image should work]

Invalid selection is basically to turn recording off. Nothing will do anything.

There's an OTO generator in OREMO 3? I had no idea.
I know there's one in SetParam, but despite my recordings being consistent, it's almost never anything resembling accurate. (It tends to think any static in the silence is the first sound, but even when I've cut that out, it's OTO'd the silence.)

Oh, you need to properly set the initial offset in the OTO generator. For the default BGM it should be at 700, and One Note Jazz was at 1100 to 1200.

I've actually written a couple BGMs myself, to go along with the VCV reclists I wrote~

how do you get the oto generator in oremo 3.0 to work?

Oh, it's fairly simple. Just click on the VCV option and a window pops up. Type your tempo and offset in the first couple boxes, then click the first button to get base parameters. I find that it works best with 100bpm. Then uncheck the option that says "a i u e o n" and click the second button at the very bottom. Once it finishes generating, save the OTO to the same folder as your voicebank.

I also need to warn you, the VCV oto generator does NOT work with romaji reclists, and the CV oto generator sucks.
