I'm here to offer an unpopular opinion (VERY unpopular, speaking of this forum), which is that Pitch Editor is overrated and certainly makes tuning worse.
I used Pitch Editor from the start, and I must say it's clearly a good plugin. The big problem with this one is that I used to tune and not check the parts much, or not in great depth. This is what happens to me when editing the pitch without the plugin, where everything is more sedate and it's easier to get into the habit of constantly checking the phonemes. Plus, it's less cumbersome since I don't have to open and close the plugin. This nonsense of opening and closing killed my first USTs, which sounded horrible. As soon as I stopped using Pitch Editor, my tuning improved a lot compared to before.
I'm not telling you to stop using pitch editor, but if you've never done any tuning the "classic" way, you really should give it a try. At the time, I didn't even know about the program's native way of drawing pitchbends, and it was quite a discovery. I stopped using pitch editor a long time ago, and I think something like this is only really necessary in programs like VOCALOID (which there is actually one, called Pitch Helper), but that's as far as my post goes.
