Open Discussion Removal of (or option to disable) Teto emotes in chat

The emoticons in the UtaForum chat box are quite annoying. Specifically, the auto-replacement can ruin more complex text-based emoticons, like <. I know this is a minor complaint (and some people are probably steadfast on those emotes) but an option to disable them would be nice.

I think they're cute and harmless, but I do kinda agree that if there is a way with the chat box to disable them that might be for hte best for some people. I don't care much though, maybe people really have cared all along and they'll chime in now.

My opinion-
the emotes are forum wide, and tbh most forums have some sort of emoticons.

Worse comes to worse, add a nose like:
:') :-) ;') :'/
or add spaces/change the emote
;v;]/ ;-; )/

Or...idk....the forum could change all the emotes to use :emote: on all emotes and not use the faces...
But that would affect other posts that already have them....

Kinda off topic, but has ' always been interpreted as a nose??? One of my favorite emotes is :'D which I always thought was like a tear with a happy face. my world is utterly changed and destroyed if the nose thing is true.

I don't think that things like :emotesad: or whatever would be a good idea, sounds like a solid suggestion to me! And on previous posts it's still an emote, it just wouldn't be defoko anymore.

I've always thought it was a tear too, you're not alone. :') Different people just see it as different things, I guess.

I always used them as tears rather than noses. to me :') equals tears and :-) equals nose. Just makes a bit more sense, in my opinion. XD
