Snowball Mic Tips please?

Matsukai

Okay, i got a blue snowball mic for my birthday and i need some tips for getting the best results with it and without a fancy recording studio. My snowball pics ANYTHING, is great quality but seriously its a bit annoying it catches every single noise cause with my older mic a Logitech mic i didn't have that problem ):.

I can't afford that expensive materials to set up a recording room, but maybe here someone who owns an snowball can give me a few tips.

Thanks in advice

Try recording on setting 3, it is usually better but still needs the noise removal. Unless you have loud background noises - then nothing really can help you other than going somewhere quieter.

Mode 3 is omidirectional but it works better in the room I'm recording in. Mode 1 should be for vocals but somehow it makes my voice weird and echo-y.

EQ your voice after recording. I have a Yeti, also by Blue, and even though it's a good microphone it comes out a bit muffly, so I EQ it into being a clear sound.

Don't do a drastic one, but EQ does help.

Some people say Normalize, but I don't, you can try it if you want.

I personally would recommend Mode 2 it should be good enough to record your vocals for utau since Mode 1 tends to pick up alot of sounds

here's a sample of a wip bank i did recorded with mode 2 C: ( and with the testing i did i can say that this mic sounds really good with tips )

Don't record on Mode 3; that's for instruments and it's not in any way ideal for the voice.  Record on Mode 1 or 2, those are both Cardoid pickup patterns which are what you want for voice and will pick up the least extra sound.  Mode 2 has a volume pad that can cut some extra noise, but may muffle your voice a little; use 2 if 1 bothers you too much.  Make sure to record about 8-10 inches from the mic with the gain as high as you can push it without your recordings clipping, and with a pop screen between you and the mic (an old sock wrapped around a clotheshanger will do).
