Utau only playing a single syllable

currently using utau for the fist time, been using tutorials and have a food feel for the program itself, but cant seem to get anything to play correctly?? i have all words selected and ive done the ctrl+a space bar thing to render and play, but the only thing i can get from it is one syllable at most. any solutions ?
i am also using an english utau !

English UTAU require you to input the phonemes of the lyrics instead of actual words. What type of English voice bank you are using determines what the phonemes look like (CVVC, VCCV, and Aprasing voice banks are different).

Go to Tools > Voice Bank Settings (or press ctrl + G with nothing selected) to see the oto of the voice bank. There it will show you what phonemes (alias) to use in the notes. Also, each note has to be a different combination of phonemes depending on how the oto is set up.

Edit: It seems like you are using Hitsuboku Kumi English Lite, which is VCCV. Here are some videos by the creator of VCCV on how to use it:
