Configuring a VCV bank is a lot easier than configuring a CV bank in my opinion. The typical way of configuring it is "uniform oto'ing".
If you look at a triphonic (VCV) bank's oto you'll most likely be intimidated since there's a lot of scary numbers there, but really, there's typically only one number you actually change.

When I configure a VCV bank, I normally set my parameters to this, ignore the offset.
Consonant: 450 (Pink area)
Cutoff: -600 (Blue area at the end, negative number indicates milliseconds from the start of the pink area)
Preutterance: 300 (Red line)
Overlap: 100 (Green line)

Now, the only thing you set is the offset, that is where the pink area begins (the consonant).
You grab hold of the offset, and move it so that the preutterance (red line) is between the end of the consonant and the beginning of the vowel, the rest will move along with it.

You literally move one line, that's all there is to it.
