Why is IME disabled?

I still can't get UTAU to work, I got the Japanese keyboard but everytime I try to switch to it, it disables itself and I'm getting frustrated. When it does work, I can only type the Japanese A and Defoko won't even sing it. Is there anyway I can fix it?

Make sure you've actually clicked somewhere that you can input text. For example, double click on a note in order to type in lyrics. You won't be able to type anything unless you're inside a text box.
