Mixing tips/feedback

Hi there~!
Since I won't get any tips from the soundcloud upload only, could you be so kind to help with my mixing? :P
(be harsh)
I really dislike the reverb, it just sounds so out of place and noisy, I didn't even put too much of it (at least I don't think so), but without it it sounds so..dry. I used FL Studio, the plugins I used are fruity compressor, fruity parametric eq 2, soundgoodizer (I don't even know If it's bad to use it but it's so addicting T_T) and fruit reeverb 2 I think.
Aah If you want to critique my tuning err do it, I already know that those sudden stops after the Ns (I don't know how to say it >_> At this point you are probably cringing over any grammar/spelling error, my bad, english is not my mother tongue) are horrible. I used moresampler, the flags I used are Mt,Mb,Mo,MC,ME and MG, vel around 170..and nothing else I think?

here it is:

You have the right idea about reverb. Because you are using background music that does not have a lot of reverb, your vocal can't have lots of reverb either or it won't "match." That doesn't mean you have to leave it out, though. If you sing or talk in the room you read this in now, there are reflections from the walls and such, which reverb can stimulate with short decay time and a fairly dry wet/dry setting. Try to get that as close to what you hear in the drums as you can.

Because you didn't make the music, I can't comment on the arrangement itself. EQ can be used to cut mildly at the place where your vocal will be, and if you feel that it sounds too dry (I don't) you can put it through the same reverb as the vocal to help "match" it, otherwise I'd leave it alone, making sure its average reading on the vu meter is between -6 and -12 while it plays.

Set your vocal for a level that fits with the background music and bring the master (or slide them both up) until you get the same level the original had.

The reason you may have heard that Soundgoodizer is bad is because it does what EQ, delay, and phase can be done yourself, but with more control over the components, and because the phase especially can cause the sound to mess up when you sum to mono for a cell phone piezo, for instance.

I may listen to the vocal more closely when I'm able and edit, but I don't hear glaring problems in the vocal itself.

Sure m8 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

What's with the reverb m8? I bet you just pick some random preset and call it a day, huh? NO. Who would want the vocals going all over the place?? With an instrumental like that, you would only need about 25-35% wetness level if you're just using the presets m8.

No wonder the reverb sucks more than it should, you AFTER you compress?? The frequencies you cut-offed barely make a difference since the vocal dynamics have been levelled.

If you're just gonna spam presets, at least spam Maximus' de-essing presets. Does your UTAU want to break my ears with those harsh consonants??

I'd "LOVE" to diss critique your tuning as well but that would be for another day.

was that harsh teehee
im not a pro so everything i say is just from experience

Ok I abandoned my fetish for very strong consonants and decided to de-esse them. I tried using Maximum, Edison and Spitfish but the consonants are still very noisy, I tried raising up the vel and deleting Mt flags but...yeah, they are still there.
As you can understand I'm noob with those plugins, could you teach me the holy way to make them..hearable?

I haven't checked on my good stuff yet but a fast thing you can do is put a high pass filter on the vocal track, and gradually bring its cutoff down from 14k until you find the place where your S's hiss. Set an EQs highest shelf for that part and adjust to taste.

I decided to re-tune the utau too, listening to the raw vocals again and again I figured out that it sounds too much..shaky to my taste. When I'll finish everything I'll make sure to post it there too.
