What are some things in UTAU that drive you insane? :)

.-. I do not have problems in UTAU PC, but I do have problems in UTAU-Synth... Lol I feel out of place here...

After I record a sample and generate .spec and .frq for it, suddenly all these yellow lines show up and messes up with how it will sound when rendered. This was the issue with my UTAU's ver.3.0.0, which I updated to ver.3.0.1 just recently...

sometimes if you stop in the middle of rendering the command line window thing just sits there and you can't close it

Necro-ing because why not I think this is a fun topic and there isn't really any no necro-ing rule.
Somehow mis-clicking and ending up with an endless error loop so I have to force close utau through task manager.
spent 3 hours watching fresamp render a song
rendered without problem
listens to the render to realize that half of it wasn't rendered.
has to sit through another 3 hours

i hate fresamp
I hate when these two happen so much.
TBH this attitude drives me insane. I'd rather have a good cover over a bad original anyday as far as listening goes, and buying into the whole "covers aren't good enough" attitude is what caused me to take a year+ long hiatus because I wasn't "good enough" at making originals or re-arrangements (for my own standards to myself, mind). And I don't forsee myself touching composing again for quite a long time to come because of that.

Encourage originals, but don't put down cover-makers in the process. Encourage people to put real work into their covers rather than plugging and playing, too. Hard-wrought covers are nothing to scoff at purely because they aren't ~originals~.
PREACH.

Don't you just hate it when some resamplers can't play certain notes (such as breaths)?

Sometimes UTAU doesn't play the sound correctly (when you double-click on "P" when otoing) like it plays the ending of the note when the waveform says otherwise. And sometimes the way the resampler plays a note makes it as if the offset moved around. Just why.

I can somewhat live with the fact that you have to get a new code for UTAU-Synth every month. I hate when it just doesn't work sometimes. It's a complete mystery as to why, and the only thing that can be done is waiting for the next one.

In the meantime, there is the alternative of doing something like running regular windows UTAU through wineskin. But it's just so unstable. Not everything always works, and I can't rely on this setup.

I don't really have many issues with the program, usually I find out what the problems are and fix them, sometimes it can be irritating like when a plug in or something won't work though.

Mainly, the overseas' community attitude as a whole is what drives me insane because people care about the stupidest things and become "elitists" over things that don't actually matter. /:

When the program can't play anything after saving a project as a ust without having to use resampler.dll

(What's the use for resampler.dll anyway?)

And loosing motivation on a cover/original I've been working on after halfway though

I agree, however it does not seem to happen here at UtaForum. I genrally see this at Youtube, SoundCloud and DA: ("You cant tune this way, you cant rercord this way, only Vippa matter, etc).

Here at UF people help.me fix my mistakes, teach me, etc. *I luv this place!*

oh it happens enough on here lol ;/
You're just lucky enough to miss it.

Tbh i really dislike the program as a whole. It's functional but finicky and unpolished.
It gets the job done but with no finesse.
It's what a lot of people love and yet hate about it.

Plus it lags a lot and often hangs from doing the most basic operations even on a decently fast PC.

Oh, well...lucky me then XD

I love the program! I really prefer working with it than with VOCALOID (yeah, I will compare to VOCALOID cause it is the 1st that come to mind lol); VOCALOID is indeed better quality (with the price it costs it must be good lol) but I dont think UTAU is really far, specially with moresampler. I personally prefer UTAU over VOCALOID.

It is unpolished indeed, but I am a person who doesnt care much about it. I think most people doesnt as well (?)

Yeah, it i slow, since the program relies on resamplers. I cant defend this point in anyway.

---------

I dont get bugs too often, but at times when I move a pitchbend too fast (ine having one finger.on the notepad and another on the other side of it.) the program crashes. Besides that no problems at all...I dont think it is that glitchy lol Specially if you consider it isnt updated anymore.

Oh, when I say slow I actually mean that doing things like cross-fading amd such will occasionally hang the software.
For me, at least, the rendering is very quick.

I can't compare too much since I'm an Utau user and have no experience with vocaloid. But quality is both subjective and determined buy the quality of the original recordings.
Utau is often seen as lower quality because most banks are recorded by the average person while Vocaloids are often recorded in studios/by large companies with access to much better equipment.
However of you were to level the playing field they are almost neck and neck imo.

One thing that drives me nuts with UTAU is when USTs of songs that have harmonics lack the harmonics and I have to sacrifice my hearing to create separate files for them. Another one is when voice recordings that sound good when you listen to them alone but all screwy when played on UTAU.

I agree. It is like I said, very closer OuO The main thing that keeps VOCALOID "ahead" is it status...

Anyway, back to thread, it is slower when you compare, fo example, to CeVIO: it renders almost instantly. Same with VOCALOID. It is kinda subjective actually. UTAU sounds very good by itself, but when (I) people start comparing we see some
...uh"problems"?

Well... I don't really encounter too many problems in UTAU (and when I do mostly I think it's because of my own clumsiness)
A thing that bugs me when I'm using UTAU is when I'm reviewing a UST that I extra-tuned (i hope you get me) by rendering the whole thing but not as a wav file yet, sometimes that red line that runs around playing the notes (rip I dunno what it's called) just stops in the middle and I don't know if I have to wait or not (because once I spent a whole five minutes waiting for it to continue but it wasn't gonna Ughhhh hahaha)

I hate when I have recorded a sample at least 12 times and it still sounds bad.
Or how about a me problem? I hate when I'm voice acting a voicebank*cough cough test-chan* and I can't recreate the tone and voice when I go to record more samples.

That's the exact same issue I have when trying to re-create my NeeNeeko bank & it makes me so sad :'D
Or the fact that every recording I do in my normal voice sounds so gender neutral it's disgusting.

Voices suddenly cutted halfway through the note (usually fu) and sh- always need consonant velocity cofigured first in some usts

Playhead that scrolls glitchy and way too late than it should and why there's no dropdown for resampler settings? I need to go back and forth from /home to UTAU folder just to change resamplers

Using flags (which I do a lot) on VCV voicebanks, resulting in the growl, for example, affecting the previous note as well as the target note, resulting in me meticulously planning the placement of flags and chopping up certain notes- it takes tiiiiiime!

Though, that's more an issue with the VCV recording style due to the large overlap, I suppose, I don't really have much issue with the program itself. In fact, I like how customisable it is, especially now there's lots of plugins and moresampler- never used Vocaloid, but I love UTAU :sing:
