What are some things in UTAU that drive you insane? :)

To add:
  1. For some-whatever reason some banks refuse to let me use the convert to vcv plugin so i have to switch to one thats ok and then switch back -_-
  2. When tn_fnds sounds like dial-up. I'm aware that its picky towards voice banks but i wonder what i can do to improve it

//comes in late to the party// For me it is,
~When UTAU refuses to save usts//rendered wavs because your computer is "advanced" and needs it to be opened with administrator.
~Having thought you removed flags but haven't and then spending forever and a day for it to render, only for the outcome to sound like a demonic toddler on a rampage.
~My end breaths coming out as moan sounds because I cannot function correctly

~More of a Set Param problem I hate getting the error that won't let you resume working on an oto
~And this may just be my version of UTAU but no matter what I do it gives a default g-25 flag

Hey, @HoneyPie, that might be your note default settings. If you go to Tools > Note Default > General, there's a g flag slider. If you set it so it reads "g0" you might have more luck!

I hate the oto editor, and the fact that development has halted. I can make do, but I feel like we could do better, even with a free program, you know?

Also,

Clicking "OK" by accident after misclicking while otoing manually. I've bid adieu to more than one almost-complete oto this way.

When you can't preview your sound in the entry editor without clogging up the resampler under Linux.
that's actually sort of an issue on windows :0
If you preview a sample in the editor and then render while it's playing it will just repeat the preview.
Not the same but still kinda bleh.

I've noticed that a lot of people's gripes about Utau are mostly user-error and not necessarily fault of the software lol.

Erm...rests, the fact envelopes aren't forced/updated automatically, the fact that envelopes aren't locked and separate from tuning instead giving us a volume curve, the ~32k oto limit unless bypassed, oto configuration can't be locked (though this is arguably a good thing for less than ideal banks), the lack of any standardization maybe, the oto editor needs autosave and backup support, etc etc.

- The lack of unicode for languages that aren't Japanese. Want to make a VSQx with SeeU-Korean, convert to VSQ, and bring it over to UTAU? Question marks... question marks everywhere. There is or was a patch for Korean interface, but that doesn't extend to hangeul being available in the oto.

- Oto limits. Not the 32K limit (not really an issue unless we're talking... multi-pitch VCV core, multi-pitch VCV expressions, omake, config for CVVC and CV all in a single bank), but the configuration limits. With the advent of Delta English in the Japanese community, I don't think that UTAU should hold onto a configuration system that primarily caters to a language that's structured as simply as Japanese.

Those are my 2 main gripes. Seems the rest of the gripes in the thread are generally user-error related (other than the hatred of rests - which are an annoyance, particularly in timing things).

Rests. Can't stand 'em. They're why I tend to kinda stay away from UTAU.
If rests weren't a thing and I could just draw notes freely then I'd use UTAU way more often.

Oh, also "The program utau.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close."
I mean, that's more of an issue with WINE, but still, it drives me up the wall.

i understand this from a rendering standpoint, especially if you accidentally include a very long rest before/after the verse or you're listening to the entire ust file at once, but... at the same time i'm glad rests exist in the file because without it you''d have to do a lot more moving around during the actual mixing. even if the rest doesn't give you the next verse exactly on time, it still gives you very close to the area it should be, which makes your job easier.

also i agree, utau really needs a way to unsnap drawing from the timing lines.

TBH this attitude drives me insane. I'd rather have a good cover over a bad original anyday as far as listening goes, and buying into the whole "covers aren't good enough" attitude is what caused me to take a year+ long hiatus because I wasn't "good enough" at making originals or re-arrangements (for my own standards to myself, mind). And I don't forsee myself touching composing again for quite a long time to come because of that.

Encourage originals, but don't put down cover-makers in the process. Encourage people to put real work into their covers rather than plugging and playing, too. Hard-wrought covers are nothing to scoff at purely because they aren't ~originals~.
I am preaching this

Well onto my stuff, I hate it when you want to select some lyrical notes but suddenly a long Rest will not make you go back QAQ

nothing really drives me insane but gggh having to fix those little exclamation point things especially when theres like a million of them
When those [!] Appear on top of your notes in the UST, it means there's a problem in your oto, or something has been mis-ottoed.
