In my opinion, pirating something from a large corporation like Yamaha should really not be all that frowned on, especially if you're using the vocal synth for the sole purpose of having fun and hobby. Making money from the software is a little different, but all in all piracy in the music...

I believe Yohio himself also has some rights over him, since Yohioloid was created to basically be himself in the vocaloid world. I'd imagine he wouldn't be okay with them recasting a voice for him, especially since they kinda insulted him.

Simple: I prefer quality. However, from my experience, masculine voicebanks tend to be higher quality in the utau space at least (Yokune Ruko M, Mine Laru, Arujine Sarasa, Kogane Oyupo, etc) That's not to say a feminine voicebank can't be good, I just haven't found that many good quality outside...
