Thank you for posting this! I think it will help various new UTAU creators! I can relate to this, as I realized while making Kari's Yiddish voicebank that my laptop microphone sounded better than my Blue Yeti after hours of attempting to record UTAUs with it and ending up having the audio generate various frequency errors when it didn't cut out multiple times each recording.

Fun fact: I've never made an released a full voicebank with a Blue Yeti, and have only recorded one "successful" pitch with it.

I got my first real mic for 20 bucks on Ebay and it sounds miles better than a Yeti, which I find hilarious.
You could buy 10 Audio Technica 2005s for the price of one of those monstrosities.

Microphones shouldn't degrade. 87 Ais and TLMs have been around for about 50 years and are still in use, I've seen SM87s get demolished and dropped and are still perfectly functional, and RE20s are pretty much indestructible. I don't know what it is about Blue mics that are just flimsy.

It's a no-go for me if the mic won't last 5 years at least.

Maybe I just didn't use the settings on it properly, but I recorded some VCV recordings on it properly, and the audio sounded fine, but the voicebank had horrible clipping issues. Thankfully I never finished it.

I got a mic that I'm not sure could be considered "really good" but it works for my UTAUs which end up sounding amazing to my ears (the mic i always mention for zero reason)
