Does the owner effect your usage of an UTAU?

I really try not to hold grudges to people. Even if someone seems like a jerk I give them the benefit of the doubt. Can't say I've had a run-in with anyome in the UTAU fandom (yet *gulp*) so I can't say for sure, but I don't think it would affect me all that much. Unless they REALLY do something to annoy me.

Yeah, I can say that I hate an utau(LE GASP) because I tried helping said person find a ust and she called me ignorant and rude because I couldn't help her find it in the amount of time she wanted. Afterwards, after I told her to take back what she said because I was genuinely trying to help her, she blocks me. I know that I shouldn't hold that against the UTAU, but people sometimes will use an UTAU not if it is great, but because the owner deserves to have their UTAU used.

I don't, but I often see others do such.
To start with, I don't think there is anything wrong of using the UTAU of a famous person or a person you know personally.
I tend to consider the overall features song, especially the range of the notes, and try to use VBs that I haven't used for long.
But since many owners are interested with how other people use their VBs(and I think this is natural), some owners show good responses to works involving their own VBs. And in that case, the creater of the work gets really fun(a good phenomenon, I think). Maybe this can lead to increased use of the VB in the future. I'm not really sure how this works though.

Well, of course the owner affects the usage to me. I'm probably be more inclined to use UTAUloids from people I like than from people I dislike. Though, I use UTAUloids from random people I don't even know just as much as my friends' utus.

It's just that if someone is definitely an A-hole to me (or if I was an butt to them and they don't want to talk to me anymore because of that), I'll prefer to avoid using their stuff to not upset them (or myself) too much (doesn't mean I'll definitely stop using their stuff, unless I end up disliking the voice after a while anyways).

And even then, it might not even be forever and ever. I mean, I tend to forget stuff pretty easily and end up talking to people who disagreed to me after a while anyways (if they want to talk to me that is)... ^^;

And now this thread made me wonder how many people I upset because I was being an assbaka...

Err...I really don't have any 'biases', per-se.. When I help my friend make her UTAU, of course I'm going to use her. Partially because she isn't an UTAU user herself, but mostly because she's my friend. And I don't see that as a bias...it's mostly just because I'll be more comfortable using her, vs. using a stranger's UTAU, whom I'd be afraid of screwing up and getting snapped at for. Same reason I'm more comfortable with using Ritsu and Teto--their voicers aren't going to just randomly look me up and call me out for something I did wrong. But that's just a running fear I have with people I don't know...Which really stinks because I suck at making friends!

The only problem I have is...if I see someone being a jerk to another user for using their UTAU (and thus validating my fear), I can't help but be turned off to said UTAU. Half because I don't think they deserve it, and half because, as I said, it scares me! I just don't tolerate being attacked, well! DX

In my opinion, I tend to use an UTAU because of the voice, mostly. I listen to quite a few of covers on Youtube, and normally the quality of an UTAU's voice is what calls my attention. I also try to listen to the voice and not focus on the art (because sometimes the design of a cover was drawn on Paint, and let's admit it may not look great), because I think an UTAU must be recognized by it's voice.

I also do a few requests, when a friend asks me to make a cover with a certain UTAU (which doesn't mean it's their own). I think it's nice to try and get the most out of a voice (sometimes, the right flags can make miracles!).

About owners, I try not to hold anything against any. UTAU is a community, so it should act as such. Of course, if a person is being reportedly mean/jerk/assh*le, they don't deserve the attention. But sometimes we may think an owner is a jerk, and in fact we don't know them enough to actually KNOW if they are a jerk. Sometimes a misunderstanding may lead to bigger and unnecessary things (it happened to me). That's why I try not to hold anything against owners. I think that talking we can get to an agreement.

Yeah, please stop. Don't go ranting about why you don't actually like a certain user. I don't know if I specifically said not to in the first post, but please guys, be polite. This is meant for general perspectives, not to share personal resentment.

Well, if the person was rude or mean to me, or a friend or even a fellow user, i would not use their utau, just for the fact if they want people to recognise their utau and use them for covers, then they should be nice to potential users.

That's really all I could think about that matter :P
