Hello.
Today i decided , that i want to make an Utauloid , i downloaded the programm , the english patch , ust , i haven't recorded my voice , but i'll do it eventually.
I watched some tutorials on deviantart , but .... i can't seem to get anything. I just started today , you can't blame me for my dumminess x3. :cry:
I'm totaly lost , i don't know how to make oto.ini ... or should i make oto.ini for every single record i have recorded ... Its so complicated , and i have no one to turn to ... and ask . So if someone can contact me ... or reply here , and explain everything more carefully , i would be thankfull . One of my question is , how should i know where to place a recording , and how should i make them more realistic and how do they fade? I'm so lost :cry:

Please , someone help.
Thank you.:love:

OK, if you'd like to make an UTAU, here's a basic list of things you need to do.

1. Record your samples. This is a no-brainer, really, but there are a few things you need. First of all, you need a microphone. Whether or not it's a good quality mic, you'll want to set up a spot to record with as little ambience or background noise as possible. Once you have that, you need a reclist or a recording list of the samples you're going to record. For a beginner to UTAU, I would recommend a CV (consonant vowel) reclist. Here's a CV reclist.

When you record, open up a music program like Reaper or Audacity (both you can find downloads for on the internet) and get recording. Although it's a matter of taste, you may want to look up some pronounciation guides when recording if you're new to speaking Japanese.

Then proceed to record all of your samples. Remember to stay as consistent as possible as far as pitch as possible, although if you're a little off, that's OK.

Then you export all of your samples into a folder. You should probably export your samples individually, since you're new to recording voicebanks. (ex. "ka.wav", "ki.wav", "ku.wav", etc etc.) You can choose to export in romaji ("ka.wav") or hiragana ("か.wav"), but don't worry about whichever one you want. Since I'm more familliar with roman numerals, I usually do my samples in romaji.

2. Open up your UTAU folder in UTAU. This is the part where you make an oto.ini for your voicebank. Here's a tutorial by Yesi-chan on how to make an oto.ini. as well as many tutorials on Youtube. Oto's are essential so that UTAU understands what part of the sample is the consonant and what's the vowel. Don't worry about the VCV otoing part yet, because you recorded for a CV voicebank and they're two different types of recording styles.

Make sure to alias your oto.ini. If you don't have a hiragana keyboard, here's a hiragana table from Wikipedia. Aliasing your oto.ini helps your UTAU sing with both romaji and hiragana .USTs.

3. Add the finishing touches. Create a couple of .txt documents. One named "character.txt" and one named "readme.txt". Character.txt is where you set up things like the UTAU's name and the picture for it's bank.

In character.txt, you need to imput the text like this:
"name=UTAU Name Here
image=icon.bmp
(the file will look for a bmp file with that name in the UTAU's folder. Make sure it's square so that everything fits.)
author=your name here"

In readme.txt, you can really put whatever you want without having to follow a format. For example:
"Hey, thanks for downloading my UTAU!
Contact me if you have any trouble at myemail@hotmail.com.
I hope you enjoy using her!"

Sometimes they include information like what resamplers and flags that the voice sounds good with, or basic character information, but it's really up to you.

When you export your files you'll want to put them all into a folder, and then move that folder to "voice" which is within the main utau folder. When you want to create lyrics and put them to music, you would usually download a UST and open it with UTAU, then change it to your own voicebank. Then you'll export it as a wav, and use another program to line it up with the music.

If you want to talk over skype, I'm adlez27 but my image is a yellow knife and the skype name will be "dai.tan" I can do chat or calls but I'm not really okay with video calling. I'll share screen though. I only speak english so if you need any language help I suggest using something like Google Translate
