Help with Naming?

redwolf21

I need help with naming my UTAUloid...
I mean, I already have her name ready, but I'm not sure if it's a good name.

Keiko Kandakai

is what her name is.  However, I'm not sure if it makes sense at all. I also need help with the correct.. writing of her name.  I want to make an wiki for her but I'm not sure what I am supposed to write for her name.

If you want to see a picture or hear her voice...
[UTAU] Little Wish [Kandakai Keiko]

She's still in the development stage, but I had hoped to release her voicebank soon.  This is one of her most recent videos, but I have more that are waiting to be posted, hahaha

If you can help me, I would really appreciate it!

Well, the name itself sounds great, but I'm not sure if you have thought about what it would mean or the kanji used.

For an example, Hatsune is written with the kanji for "first" (初) and "sound" (音) while Miku means future. Together, her name Hatsune Miku means "first sound from the future." And while Miku is written in katakana, I suppose that's just to look good or not to make her whole name look so complicated with only kanji.

Other UTAU's also have meanings to their name. Take mine; Harune Asuka. 春音アスカ whereas Haru means spring, ne means sound, and Asuka means tomorrow fragrance.
My alias, Nagane Rin, 永音リン has the meaning of Eternal (Naga), sound (ne), and dignified (Rin). So I suppose you could say it's somewhere along the lines of the "eternal dignified sound."

Assuming that Keiko's first name will be in katakana as many other UTAU and Vocaloids does, that would be ケイコ. The ko at the end of a name (such as Hanako) mean "child" whereas in Hanako, it would mean "flower child." Keiko's name could have a few potential meanings:

恵子 Blessed child
啓子 Spring season child / expressed child
慶子 Happy child
敬子 Respectful child
Among other meanings. You could choose one of these few, and write it in katakana but have it mean what it means in kanji. In Japanese however, katakana was meant for English words (like caramel = kyarameru), but I guess Vocaloid was an exception. So I suppose it would be fine having UTAU's with katakana names with meanings as well.

As for her surname Kandakai, there are two that I can think of right now...
甲高い which pretty much means "high-pitched" and かん高い or "shrill."
I'm not sure if you want those meanings but those are what I can think of for "Kandakai."

I guess Keiko would be an easier name to choose as it's an actual name, however I've honestly never heard of anyone with the surname Kandakai so I can't really help with that and getting the kanji and meanings.

I know that the names normally have a meaning that is related to the character.  Your UTAUloid has a pretty name :D  So I had a slight idea of what the words meant and what kanji to use, but I wasn't particularly sure.

I also know that "ko" at the end means child.  I had thought about Keiko's name being along the lines of "blessed child" when I had first designed her... But if you don't mind, I might use your suggestion of "happy child."

And for her last name.. I'm going to admit, I'm awful with those (for example, I have another UTAUloid that I want to create, but his last name is a first name I think... Katsuya is the surname =w= )  But I didn't want it to have the "ne" at the end, although, I probably should change it to Kandakaine, which would translate to "high-pitched sound", right?  I knew that Kandakai meant high-pitched, but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to go back and change everything that had said just "Kandakai" and change it all to "Kandakaine"

And it's okay the surname help with meanings... I know that it's not really.. used.  Probably never been used haha
