Is teaching myself how to use UTAU a good idea?

Im trying to learn UTAU and ive decided that ill just wing it and try to learn it by playing around with UTAU2008.
I know how to insert lyrics, how to download plugins and new UTAUS, but other than that im pretty much clueless about the rest.
Is this is a good way to learn? If not is there something else i should know or a good tutorial out there i can see? Thanks. Sorry for asking a lot of questions.

There's nothing wrong with it, but there are some things like voicebank creation and dealing with voice colours/non-Japanese VBs that you WILL need to watch tutorials for.

Also, you'll want to download Oremo and Setparam if you ever intend on making a VB.

You might need to watch some tutorials since using the original UTAU app is hard (For me it was too so), and I'd also recommend asking some people within the UTAU community how to do stuff in it such as using the actual app, tuning, making voicebanks, and etc.
