i want a more realistic sound with flags, is possible?
To give a proper answer that isn't "
Use something else"; You should try experimenting with the flags moresampler has available with the voice(s) you're using. It has a lot of flags that can help you achieve a lot of different sounds, as long as you're willing to put in the time to learn how each flag can be combined and used to do so.
Here are the basic flags I tend to use by default:
If a voice is raspy/soft try "
Mt-20Mo5"
"
Mt#" makes a voice softer, more whispery when in the negatives like above. Even loud, powerful voices. It also affects the bass of the voice. If used in the positives (
ie; Mt20 instead of Mt-20) it does the opposite and makes the voice more tense, strained, and put emphasis on the treble/higher frequencies.
"
Mo#" is similar to "
Mt#", but instead can help make the voice sound more like they are yelling/projecting/opening their mouths more when in the positives. And in the negatives it does the opposite, and can give a voice a softer, more muffled sound. Just like with "
Mt#", positive values emphasize high frequencies, and negatives emphasize lower frequencies, so unless you really need a super muffled or super ear-piercing sound, keep this flag in the range of -10 to 10. I've noticed higher or lower than that can start to get a bit iffy.
If a voice is loud/powerful try "
Mt5Mo8Md-5ME3"
"
Md#" is a strange flag that, even though moresampler is my default, I've never really understood this flag in particular. From what I've gathered, though, it makes a voice either more or less susceptible to the effects of the other flags. In the negatives, it makes a voice less affected. In the positives, more. Though it greatly depends on the voice in question. Sometimes I can't notice a difference either way.
"
ME#" affects the formant, and can be used to counter-balance the other flags if "
Mt#", "
Mo#", "
Mb#", or any of the growl flags (
MC#,
MD#,
MG#) are making a voice too high in either frequency direction. It's twin flag "
Mr#" does something similar, but is... A little harder to put into laymans terms, and is a very special use case.
And finally; If a voice is neither particularly powerful or soft try "
Mt-5Mo5"
I'd also just in general say to use the "
e" flag as well, but that's personal preference more than anything as I dislike the looping method of elongating a note lol
If you need a list of flags usable by moresampler, you can check
HERE. It has a good basic rundown of what the flags do, and can give you a jumping off point to experiment with them.
