Need a Guide for VB and Character Commercial Licensing

I am planning to set a license purchasing when someone wishes to use my voicebank for commercial use in the future. So, what should I have to prepare first? Commercial License ToU's, Pricing, etc...

• I went through a lots of voicebanks ToU. I saw one set the VB license purchase to be one-time purchase only and able to use it for commercial. Some other set the license purchase for one work only. This giving me a vague idea how do I set my commercial license. There's a lot of many kinds.
• At first, I was planning to divide my commercial license to purchase. One for VB and one for Character to make profit fanmerchs. For VB, I would like to set it for one-time purchase for a period of time for two years, then the license expires. For Character, it is also same for VB except for a year only. Fanmerchs also set to produce only at determined pcs quantity and cannot exceed. One must buy the license again if they still wants to use the VB/Character for commercial usage after it expires.
• For pricing, I do have an idea for it, but I still would like to know how much should be priced from your opinions. I seperate my pricing for Local (ID) and for international, adjusting the economical condition (I am clueless how to explain that properly in English asdfghjklajsk)

Any opinions and explanations from all of you guys are very, very appreaciated. I really love reading a lot of stuff to get enlightment in the middle of the fog. Do not hesitate to just tell what's from your head. :uhuhu:

Well, first off, being brutally honest, unless your UTAU becomes pretty decently popular, there’s a strong chance you’re not going to sell a lot of licenses. That's not a comment on or reflection of how good your UTAU is/isn't, it's just the consequence of vsynths being a niche hobby. So first thing’s first, you should probably keep that in mind when you’re working on it.

The reason I say that is because I feel that making a license that 1. Is basically split into more than one part for character and voice etc. 2. Making it a license for a period as limited as 2 years, and 3. Has a lot of complex elements like that to keep track of, is liable to deter the already relatively small number of people wanting to buy a commercial license. Obviously, it’s your UTAU, and you can do whatever you want, but if the point is to monetize your UTAU, then that might not be very effective; and if the point is just to make sure your UTAU isn’t exploited by people profiting off of work made for it, then adding a bunch of different factors and licenses to choose between is liable to be confusing for anyone going over the terms of service.

I’d recommend just consolidating both character and voice all into one license, and removing the time limit ( or at least make it a lot longer than 2 years ). Again, you can do what you want, but when it comes to the intention behind developing a commercial license for a small hobbyist project like an UTAU, I can’t think of many perspectives that would ultimately benefit from this kind of system unless you anticipate it is going to sell really well.

I recently opened up a Commercial License for one of my UTAU - and set it to around $30. That seems to be about the standard pricing from what I’ve seen, and I feel that’s pretty affordable, and decent for an artist looking to, say, post a song on Spotify or something. And in my opinion, it offers decent incentive so that somebody looking to use a vsynth for their song don’t have to pay from roughly around $60 to $100’s of dollars like they would with commercial synths, while still being priced high enough to support the author decently. That’s my thought process anyways.
