Number of code uses?

I'm just curious, how many uses does a Vocaloid registration code last through? Only once? I've heard 2-3 times though but I'm not sure. Does time effect it? Like, between usages of the code.

I'm asking because a friend and I are financially collaborating to purchase one and would like to share it. I know it goes against the license, but so is buying Vocaloids from Ebay users, so I don't think it's a big deal.

A Vocaloid's serial key will work 5 times. If you reach the sixth time you will get an error.

I figure for purchasing a Vocaloid to share between two people the five key limit should be just fine. ^-^ b

Wait, your VOCALOID code actually expires???

That is such a ripoff!! These things are not cheap you know. So if I have to move computers for five times for some reason, I will loose all my purchases?!?!

It's not entirely unreasonable. Given a computer's supposed to last you around four years, that's twenty years. I can see how it'd be frustrating if someone had super bad luck with computers and they break a lot. I don't know if they could/would do anything about it in that case.

Oh hey, didn't know this was finally answered, cool!

Ah, that many times is a relief, then I'll be using my 3rd when I install it on my new computer.

But once you reach the limit can't you contact the company to renew it? Though I'm imagining what a nightmare it will probably be to contact AH-Software...

Yea, once the code runs out, you have to contact the company you bought the vocaloid from and ask for either a new code or more activations.

Uh, I didn't switch computers or anything, and for some reason one day VOCALOID told me my activation expired and made me re-enter it. ._. Is there a reason for that? It had better not mean that I don't get to use VOCALOID for as long as I should. I only have MIRIAM and I got her in December 2013.

@doopah I'm not sure what's going on there. It may just be the fact that V1 is pretty outdated, it may be throwing a fit if you are on Windows 7 or newer.

Other than that, I've never really used V1, so I'm afraid I can't troubleshoot. :/

I know EmpathP has MIRIAM, so maybe contact her somehow, she's very nice~

How exactly would one do that? I know at least INTERNET's DB programmer is on twitter and can speak English, he has helped me before~

I suppose, but seeing as how VOCALOID hasn't been around for 20 years yet, people who want to to this as a long term career may have an issue eventually. I suppose Yamaha will have to cross that bridge when they come to it.

Or not. Yamaha can be very unpredictable to be honest with you.

Well, you can contact the company by going to it's website and looking for it's email.
