Problem with UTAU

Hi everyone. I've upgraded to Windows 7, I didn't want to lose anything utau related, so I saved it all on a jump drive. When I try'd open utau it said. "component 'mscomctl.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invaild" O___O I've try'd to re download the program but it said the same thing. Can someone please help?

Thanks a bunch~

Ah, that is completely normal. What mscomctl.ocx (and a few others) is, is that it's a file required to open certain programs-- UTAU being one of them. I'll help you with that.

First, try searching your drive if you have that file already. Since you're a Windows 7 user like me, it should be in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory. Most of the time, you're not going to have it, so don't worry.

If it's not there, go ahead and download this file: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/mscomctl.zip
This is virus-free, if you're concerned. When you're finished downloading it, place it in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory.

Now go click on your Start button, then type in "Run." On Run, type and enter in "REGSVR32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" (excluding the quotations) in the box. That should fix the problem.

Ah, ok that happens sometimes ^w^lll
Try going to Start > cmd > Run as Administrator
Then type in these instructions:

cd<push spacebar>C:\Windows\SysWOW64 <push Enter key>

regsvr32<push spacebar>mscomctl.ocx <push Enter key>

And see if that works.

EDIT: Oh, and the \ are strictly only \. Command Prompt will not accept / so you need to type in \, even if it appears as another symbol.

When you redownloaded the UTAU software did you try opening it from your jump drive again or did you install it to the computer(like your Program Files folder)?

Also when you re-installed did you delete to program from your jump drive/computer completely before reinstalling?

It's a common issue with the use of UTAU zip as it's already stated.
Just use the install option for the official UTAU download once (so those files are automatically added to your Windows) or try to add the .dll as stated before with the registry changes.

For the second option I find it also works to copy the .ocx in the same folder as the UTAU.exe that runs the program (I didn't need to change any registry this way) but this method may be only for old Windows.

Also after fixing that one it could happen COMDLG32.OCX is missing, too. Just do the same (well, it will be included if you did the install way).

No I didn't delete the program from jump drive after installing. I added it to the folder and still nothing happens, the same thing pops up saying how the osx file or it components are missing. I'm on the verge of really giving up...it's very depressing. QAQ Even when I download the file from official site zip or other wise it still says the same thing. QAQ If it does not get fixed soon enough, I know this sounds very desperate, would someone mind rendering covers for me? I know it sounds pathetic but really there is nothing do to besides not work with utau for the time being, I really don't want to do that. Thanks again for all the help you guys have given me!

You should get rid of UTAU completely before reinstalling it I think;; Then try installing it to your actual computer instead of the jump drive.
