Consonants. I still struggle with k and t, but I've learned how to mask them with edits so utau doesn't hear it. Accent with vowels, poor mic quality (compared to my current bank and setup). The oto was okay for a newb, but I sang at the very bottom of my range, trying to get a bold Iroha-ish sound and the result was kind of boxy.

My Major issue was with saying the Rs correctly. I was told to say them like Ls and they really sound like a D and L cross... Everything else were more intentional things because my UTAU was supposed to be an american so I didn't use a Japanses accent, which I tend to not do anyways because none of my UTAU(s) I have are Japanese natives XD

Never really had problems with my first CV bank except for the otos needing some polishing up. As for my first VCV bank, it had an accent where the "t"s and "k"s are pronounced weirdly and also the "o"s.

Oh god.
I copied an OTO, for starters.
I had frq issues everywhere, seriously.
My first bank was an absolute mess, and when I first tried to OTO I got overlap and preutterance backwards every time.

I had english R's so bad. Some of the vowels were off. I rponounced "wo" the way you would in mandarin (the w is pronounced, the o is a little different too). Overall it was heavy accented.
I'm sure the consonants weren't great. Considering at the time there was literally only one english otoing tutorial, I also didn't know that start of data was a thing, just used top of note and hoped for the best. When i did figure out how to fix that, it slurred a lot. Also there was like no info about frqs so I just rerecorded anything that really could have just been regenerated.

My first bank was recorded in the middle of the night, which gave it this raspy whispery tone that I didn't really want for the character. I also mispronounced the Rs by rolling them, and I had absolutely no idea what an OTO was. My second bank wasn't much better. The Rs were pronounced as chinese ones, and there was at least a basic terrible OTO, but I skipped all the "kyo" "nya" etc. samples because the tutorial I was using said they were optional.

My "t" "k" and "p" notes have a puff of air (I'm trying to fix it ;; ). I also have no microphone, (but it's kinda good as long as you use flags, fresamp, and the breath settings at 0) And I only have "l" sounds instead of the Japanese "r" sounds because I can't pronounce them yet.

(Probably most of the reasons mine hasn't been released yet)

Too much, seriously.
  • Incomplete voice samples.
  • Bad voicebank quality.
  • Pronunciation errors.
  • Configuring the voicebank wrongly.
  • Recording voice samples with stupid mic.
I don't know what I should say else, haha.

"Kyo" and "nya" are truly optional but may be useful in certain songs. And I skipped these stuffs when I recorded my first bank because I don't know how useful they are.
