Have you set the correct phonemizer? Kasane Teto is a VCV JP voicebank.
There should be a dropdown menu that says ‘Default’. Change it to either VCV Japanese or Japanese Presamp.

The Voicbank you're using is a VCV one but the notes are plain CV.
I don't believe there's an easy way to batch edit them to that in program but if you search for VCV converter you'll probably find a plugin for it.
Alternatively you can edit the notes themselves in that case it's "-" infront of every note with a gap in front of it and the vowel of the note before for every note that's not in front.

So for what you have entered it would be "- あ" and "a に"

Okay apparently there was a easier way to do it.
If you click the DEFAULT under Teto's name you can find an automatic vcv reader under the japanese section.
Tested it out and you should be able to continue inserting the notes as you did before then.

It would seem they already did that in the screenshot they sent.
I believe it might be an issue with how the user installed the vb. Try deleting the Teto folder in the voices folder of your OpenUtau and installing it again, this time via the Install Singers function found under Tools if you haven't.
