UTAU with an an accent

I'm looking to record a french focused utau voicebank (japanese vcv/cvvc + french using either gros mot or petit mot i haven't decided yet), and while i can do proper Japanese pronunciation fine, i would like the japanese voicebank voice to have a french accent on purpose. My question is, would the intentional accent impact the smoothness of the voice and overall performance?

No, it shouldn't. Plenty of utau are recorded with accents in all sorts of formats, and all that matters is the quality of your mic and otoing.

If you want your UTAU to sing japanese with a French accent, you might not need to record a separate Japanese voicebank. You can prepare an additional OTO for the French voicebank with standard hiragana aliases for the most similar-sounding French phonemes.
