VCV or CVVC??

Okay, so i wanna record an utau voicebank but definetly NOT a cv because theyre so choppy. Ive tried recording a VCV but theres so many recordings, and i seen on google that a cvvc has only 30 recordings. i cant oto so i usually just plug anything i try to make into moresampler (which is another reason why i like doing anything other than cv).

ALSO i should probably clarify that im doing a JP voicebank because the thought of attempting an english voicebank shivers my timbers

If anything needs explained lmk and i can go into further detail

If this is your first time making a voicebank, you'll want to start with a very small and simple one just so that you can figure out the technical setup and resolve basic issues without spending too much time.

What languages do you speak? Japanese isn't strictly necessary if you know languages that can also make a very small voicebanks for testing and debugging (such as Mandarin or Toki Pona)

I wouldn't say it's the first voicebanks I've made period... Just the first voicebanks I'm seriously making. I can handle the Japanese pronunciation pretty well minus the R symbols (ら り る れ ろ) and I mostly want a Japanese voicebank because that's what I'm accustomed to.

Sorry if I worded it wrong, but I mainly just wanna know which one would be better in terms of smoothness and ease.

I know cvvc has far less recordings than a vcv but I am willing to sacrifice the ease of recording a cvvc for the better quality of a vcv and vice versa.

For otoing, I usually just drag whatever into moresampler so I don't really care about that unless I need to manually tweak something

CVVC will give you more flexibility while tuning, and it's much easier to use with OpenUtau's phonemizers. You'll also be able to record more pitches and voice colors more quickly, since the reclists are shorter.

Here's a website with all types of Japanese reclists and base otos. You can copy and paste the base oto into your oto.ini file and get a good starting point without needing to use moresampler.

Thanks! I honestly am leaning more on the cvvc side since I don't like recording for long periods of time and with vcv I would take like week long breaks because I forget to record/have no morivation
