Was it hard to find a name for your UTAU?

I'm terrible with thinking up titles and names, so I asked my FB friends name my Utau for me lol. Only my sister and one other friend responded. My sister suggested "Merin" and the friend suggested "Azure". To this day, I use "Merin" possibly just as a stand-in name, but I may just make it her name. I dunno. :ehhh:

Artemis and Apollo are named after, well, Artemis and Apollo of Greek mythology. Artemis was going to be named "Atlas" at first, but then I realized that there was already an UTAU named Atlas.

Takeo Sanne's name has no real meaning.

Kaoru Kurosaki comes from an old OC.

My utau's name is Nana Sensoune. And really her first name didn't mean anything but her last name means "war sound" which fits with the background information I gave for her. naming her wasn't a challenge after i determined a personality and back story

I remember that naming my FIRST UTAU(s) were hard. :"D

When I started UTAU, I thought that in last name end Surffix 音 ("ne" or "oto") was a "must thing" (obiously, it isn't), so I half-forsed myself to use that Kanji. I also wanted that their names means/is related to rabbit because I love rabbits, so I used Kanji 兎 which means rabbit. Then I put Kanji 歌 (which means sing or song) between "rabbit" and "sound" and Ta-Da! "Tokane" (I dropped a year later kanji "ne" tho cuz I didn't like it. Now the name is just Toka ;v; ).

And their first names, oh gosh. That was hardest part! I had many requires to their names! First, it's a Finnish given name that is very easy to say/write/pronounce for anyone (specially in Japanese). It was hard 'cause many Finnish names are LONG plus I wanted that when boy and girl characters' name were written in kana characters, their names would be like a "kana's switching their places".

After long thinking their ended up to be Aki アキ and Kiia キーア (NOT Kia cuz that's a car XD).

Naming my newer characters were kinda much more easy tho. (Actually my all newer UTAUs doesn't have last name and named quite randomly or very "creativity" XD)

For examples: I was naming my fox girl furloid, I couldn't thing any good name for her until I went to super market on that evening and saw a lychee juice on sale and I was like "mm, lychee is yummy... Wait! Lychee? That's perfect name for her!"

Naming BimBong: Combine two words "ding dong" and "pin pon".

Painajainen: translated from "nightmare" (wow, so creative)

Sonata's name was actually almost Cadence, since her name was chosen with a public poll haha
The rest of my personal UTAU were pretty easy to name.. Michido, Sawako, Kazuo...
(ah I never realized they all end in an "o" pfffttt)

Took me a bit but I ended up choosing "Raiki Takanashi"
I got Takanashi from an anime xD and got Raiki from a website with a list of japanese female first names
So Raiki ended up having no meaning and Takanashi 'small bird's play'

Choosing names for UTAU is always difficult. It wasn't hard for my first UTAU Q.P., but it was tougher with the other units because I want to find names that would not only match their characters but their theme as well.

TYPE A was originally meant to be Typer, pronounced with an English accent. Which then became TAIPA. Which eventually turned into TYPE A, and I've oddly loved it since.

Saisei was supposed to be Sais, like six. And her surname was supposed to be Maigone so it would be like sixth lost sound (or lost sound six). I dropped the ne thing since it was used a lot for others, and due to hiragana issues sais became saisei instead (cos I didn't want her name to be pronounced saisu)

Uhhhhhhhh... My cousin and I named our UTAU after characters in some story we tried (and gave up on) writing a few months prior to deciding we wanted to make UTAU voice banks. Our UTAU are brother and sister, and we wanted to give them names that related to one another. Early on we decided we wanted them to be pretty opposite of one another (because we are very opposite of one another), but still make it clear that they're related. Of course the thought occurred that they're "As different as night and day," (probably not exact wording but still) and somehow we decided those would be great names. So their names are NIGHT and DAY.

Are there names actually stylized in all caps? Because if yes, I love that, it's absolutely aesthetic to me//dies for asking such a weird question

Either way really. Usually, when discussing them as voice banks, its all caps. As characters, just the normal proper noun caps. Of course, it's not like it's a rule so you can pick whichever you like best. I'm planning a mini comic around them and their little siblings, and it'd be difficult for me to go through all of it with all caps I think.

I don't know if I would say hard but... it was a odd task heheh- I simply researched names that meant things relating to music or sound

Kyou Kazuki
Found that "Kyou" can mean "Echo"
and that "Kazu" Can be "Harmony" while "ki"can mean "Radiance"
so with the right kanji her name can loosely translate to "The Echo of Harmony and Radiance"

Even though she will be getting renamed soon for all other languages while her Japanese name will stay "Kyou Kazuki"

Trilli's name is just kind of a repurposed reference to a musical term, the trill, which as a woodwind musician is pretty relevant to me. Later I learned that Trilli is also Tinkerbell's name in Italian whoops.

Clarina is literally just making the word clarinet into a feminine name.

An UTAU concept I have in the pipes is named Cella. Her name was basically just what sounded cool/pretty and wouldn't sound out of place with Trilli's culture. Also, Cella is the name of my laptop.

I just suddenly thought that Renko would fit a himedere for her given name.

For her surname, "Mitsu" because I she has a loose queen bee motif and "oto" because I was really impressed by Una Otomachi at the time //shot

Nah not at all. I was always fond of the name Sora. The last name...I just used a japanese name generator. So not at all.

....Yes and no?

First of all, it all happened because I drank too much coffee and under its influence drew concept art, drew 'box' art, found a voice provider and created a character profile, lol. The latter was me being half asleep because coffee makes me sleepy after a while.

So, I decided to be lazy and just find sum common japanese first names and surnames, as it'd be so much easier. EXCEPT IT FREAKING WASN'T and I spent like an hour just on the first name.

I browsed multiple resources to find actual japanese names. Found a few, but I still had to double check if those names are, in fact, names. (Spoiler: Not all of them were, but I'm pretty confident I picked the one that was.) It was pretty hard, but I ended up with a few options. It was either Ren, which I didn't pick for obvious reasons and because there was already a Ren UTAU too; or Kyuuta (I know the guide said not to use names similar to that, but c'mon, I'm having fun), which I went with for a reason I'll mention a bit later.

After that I needed a last name that'd sound good and not have some hella weird meaning - after all, my character is only half inspired by trolloids. I also needed it to NOT end with "-ne" because that's overused and I hate crypton (/hj). So yeah, back to resources of actual last names. Except when I was scrolling down it came down on me: I had a reallyyy old anime self-insert with the last name Shimizu. I felt it was perfect and, - admittedly, not the best decision, - didn't even check if it was actually in use and had any meaning whatsoever (Pretty sure that's a city in Japan, though?). Still don't wanna, mostly bc I'm scared lmao.

Here's the funny part: I wanted to give him a stage name. I don't know why, I just did. And after browsing jisho-org for a whopping (/s) 3 seconds, here it was: a stage name suspiciously similar to the real name I gave him. So I just kinda... Picked what I did, and now there I have Kyuutarou aka Kyuuta Shimizu. Cringe? Totally. Probably would make a native japanese speaker punch me? Absolutely. But cmon, go easy on me, I barely even speak english lolz. Anyways it's the experience that counts, it was pretty fun.
P.S.: Please tell me if that name sucks,, I don't wanna embarass myself when I post it somewhere else
