UTAU has many resamplers out there for you to use. In fact, there are so many resamplers that one might feel overwhelmed by the amount of options available. So, here I'll be listing a few popular and personal favorite resamplers and descriptions of how they tend to sound, the best situations to use them in, and some features they have.
1. Resampler.exe
This is the default resampler UTAU comes with. It has a bit of a metallic and breathy sound that is very characteristic of UTAU. But just because it's like this doesn't mean it's unusable.
Its sound can make your vocals sound more 'UTAU-like' and nostalgic for one. It can also add a pleasing twang to the consonants on high amounts of velocity. It also works well with computer generated voicebanks like Defoko or Adachi Rei. Alas, it's rather unclear and is not the ideal resampler for most occasions.
2. Resampler.dll
Only available in the original UTAU and not in OpenUTAU. It's basically the same as resampler.exe, but noisier and doesn't cause that command prompt window to open. It can also be a lot faster. This is basically just if you want more noise on your voicebank or want the process to look prettier.
3. Doppeltler
A resampler made by the same person who made UTAU. Seems to be a better executed version of resampler.exe. Generates voicebanks with a bit of a whispery texture added, although using the B0 flag removes it. Rather clear and really fast. Good as a general resampler for anything really and preserves a lot of the original sound.
4. Moresampler
A now discontinued resampler made by the same person who make Synthesizer V. It generates fairly clear results and has a lot of flags and features such as growl, tension, looping vowels and more. Tends to add a fair bit of power to vocals by default. However, it tends to make voicebanks sound a little weird or harsh. This can me mitigated with the flag Mb-100, but that just makes it a bit muted. This is most recommended if you want a lot of features or if your voicebank sounds off key with other resamplers used. It also boosts how low your voicebank can sing.
5. F2resamp
A sister resampler to doppeltler based off an older resampler called fresamp. Once again made by the person who made UTAU. The results are rather similar to doppeltler, but it also removes noise. This is my most recommended resampler for you to use due to its clean results, fast rendering and noise removal.
6. Fresamp
The precursor to f2resamp. Removes noise a lot less cleanly than f2resamp and takes much longer to generate, but it adds power to the vocal and makes it sound more 'UTAU-like'. It's recommended to not use the newest version and instead to use something like fresamp11.
7. TIPS
A very old resampler. Lacks many features that other resamplers has. Adds breathiness to your voicebanks and makes them sound more full and masculine. Works very well on male voicebanks, soft voicebanks, or low quality voicebanks, but makes high quality or powerful voicebanks sound weird and struggles with high notes. It also boosts your voicebank's low range similarly to moresampler.
8. Hifisampler
A resampler which uses AI to make your voicebank sound clearer. Takes a very long and a lot of extra programs and tech knowledge to set up, so is not all that recommended for beginners. However, if you are able to set it up, it is one of the best resamplers you can use. Generates very clear results and vastly boosts your voicebank's range, but uses a lot of CPU power and tends to be rather slow. It also lacks any flags or extra features and tends to make your voicebanks sound less powerful.
Which resampler is best to use vastly differs depending on what voicebank you're using and what song you're having them sing, so I'd recommend playing with a few to see what works best. It should also be noted that this is NOT every resampler and that there are a lot more, these are just some popular ones and ones that I like.
