CV vs. VCV banks.

I was just wondering what are the pros and cons on each type.
I HEARD that VCV are smoother, and more realistic then CV. Is that true?
Also, are VCV really that much harder then CV?

...VC?
You mean CV right? ;u;

Anyway, here are so pros and some cons I noticed for each:

VCV

Pros
  • It's very fluid as the recordings kinda flow from one another due to the vowels and stuff.
  • Can be very realistic and a great upgrade from a CV bank.

Cons
  • It's a helluva lot harder to record.
  • Sometimes the VCV plugin just WON'T work for some hiragana usts and you're going to have to hand input the vowels.
  • Otoing is more difficult, as there are 394934 samples to edit.

CV

Pros
  • Simple and easy to record.
  • Otoing is basic.
  • .usts are easily converted into CV.
  • Easy to understand, and the most basic recording format.

Cons
  • Can be very robotic is the samples are too short.
  • It's more robotic in general.

VCV captures the natural transitions you make when you move from vowel to consonant-vowel.
In that aspect, it is more capable of being "realistic" and "smoother" than CV.

But CV can also sound just as nice if you have a good oto that replicates these transitions well enough.

A good CV is still better than sloppy VCV. Great VCV can't really be rivaled by good CV in return.

VCV is not that much more difficult that CV. It just takes a bit longer, and recording can be sort of tedious since it's in strings and as such you need to set a pitch and tempo guide.

Using them is a matter of how good the oto is. A good CV will be easy to use, and so will a good VCV. there are like 4 CV>VCV plugins and they always work file for me.

Just some things to think about.

Sorry, its been awhile since I had to use the terms. >.<;

But, thank you so much for clarifiying the ups and the downs of both. :3
I might try and record a VCV and see how that goes.
