Favorite Tuners?

UkimeKageku

Sooo.. I pretty much know what certain pitchbends do and stuff. But, since I'm not a singer nor do I have much technical knowledge of music, I don't think I tune very well I guess. I just put certain bends where i think i feel it should go, or just random places sometimes. i've also learned on what notes i like vibrato to be. I always hear that x producer is bad at tuning or what not, so i don't want to be in that category myself...:cry:

Other than the most popular as of late, Cillia/Kyaami.. Does anyone have a list of favorite tuners? I think it'd be helpful to know, to study and see what different methods there are, and what people really like to hear. Especially tuners for specific voice types or genres(since i know I'm reeeal bad tuning soft voices)~:smile:

I'm not a fan of Cillia too much - her style is actually very simple and easy to understand, what makes it sound so great is how she uses multipitch, not the tuning necessarily. And her mixing is top notch. And we'd all die for her PV skills.

BUT I WILL SAY
I ADMIRE SENEI AND ( ゚д゚ ) WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING
BEHOLD THEIR AMAZINGNESS
Senei: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm18947029
( ゚д゚ ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcBQ2L1WPe4
and for a visual example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbeQrKfkRkw
though their best stuff is her shinji things which she rarely shows us the pitchbends of
wish ( ゚д゚ ) had a mylist or at least let us look at her vids on nico orz and damn she needs to release that unnamed utau of hers dear god i want it so bad the potentiallll

I think they're two of the best UTAU tuners in the fandom, period. Everything they do sounds so amazingly realistic ahhhhh~

On a level closer to us measly humans, I also admire Yoyopines/Yoyosama - his UTAU tuning, while not overly complex, always sounds great and GOSH he can make Sinsy sound good. http://soundcloud.com/yoyosama-1/

WITH VOCALOID everyone knows that Ciel is god, I mean DAMN those VSQs are nice, how do they even draw those vibratos that beautifully?! Frutella is awesome as well, MitchieM either uses Vocalister, Vocashifter, has good references, or is a god, and while Kanon746's stuff isn't as hyper-realistic as the other examples, with how difficult Vocaloid is to tune I'm always impressed with how great it sounds.

I'd bring up whimsoft (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KjSJuRDz64 ) but I'm 99% positive they use a program like Vshifter - still impressive if they edited that all by hand unto Vocaloid with it as a reference, and admittedly still kind of impressive if they put it on Iroha and adjusted it to make it sound as freaking gorgeous as it does.

IN CONCLUSION for me I'm most impressed and struck by tuners that achieve realism. I do appreciate good UTAU/Vocaloid sounding tuning though - I like Yoyopines and I don't dislike Cillia or anything. But what will always strike me best is the best of the best. Though I'll never get there, I'll just always be one of those average UTAU type tuners.
*stares at post* sorry i had a lot of passion about this topic

Oh thank you for such a great list!! ; _ ; I actually knew about Senei for a long time too, i brought up his sample with Unhappy Refrain on the old Utaforum~ xD I even talked to him once on twitter, he's nice and the way he tunes really does amaze me..;;

I like Yoyo's tuning too, and of course MitchieM! But the others i'm not familiar with, thank you so much! I think i'd rather have a more realistic tuning style myself, but... I probably have a long way to go because i feel everything i do is waaay too subtle. xD;; I'd also like to know the secret to tuning soft voice cause there's several voices i wanna use like that buut, they just feel so hard to tune for me...;;;

I'm still in the midst of exploring other people's UTAU works, and right now I can't give out any good names, but the first one that caught my ears are those from my friend (and one of the people who introduced me to the wonderful world of UTAU), ryanlanuza18(username here in UtaForum). He is kind of my teacher in using UTAU.

Here are some samples of his works:

2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wL0T48YAA2U (his latest work, featuring Yokune Ruko)

Most of the tuners I like have been mentioned OTL So I'd just add matt, Konane, Ariothsu too (their work with Engloids, and especially with TONIO is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G)

Aaaaaand how could we forget the wonderful and gorgeous works made by Cody ? <3

Utakoloid makes Mew and other 'loids so good I'm having chills *u* And make them sound good when it comes to other languages

Also R.K.'s tuning is epic, especially when she uses powerful banks, but the soft too sounds epic *w* Magicoone (Jinx Nyota's voicer and creator) too~

And Dojan, every Vocaloid, every UTAUloid and even Sinsy sounds epicly great in his hands. And he's also the one who made the tutorial for Vocalshifter -which he uses so damn well <3

And I'm sure I forget to mention plenty of other amazing tuners herp Screw you short memory T^T (and yay for Links fest)

Oh, forgot to even mentinon Giuseppe! Though there's been a million pounds of controversy over YOHIOloid stuff, his older things with TONIO, Bruno, Clara, Sweet Ann...they're the most devine non-JP Vocaloid things ever.

i'll just plop down a power of one
