How easy to understand are UTAU/Vocaloid of different languages?

I always hear the overseas fans complain that the Japanese UTAU are more realistic than other languages, but I also notice that these people can't speak Japanese. On the other hand, I've heard that the Japanese fandom sometimes says the opposite.

I saw a thread somewhere else asking this before, which said they are both hard to understand, but it was from several years ago and I think we've made a lot of strides in realism and making VBs sound natural since then.

English UTAU and Vocaloids sound more natural now too, so I was wondering: If you speak any other language besides English, how easy to understand are the recent HQ Utau and Vocaloids?

It depends on the quality and the reclist, but the most important thing is the OTO.
An example can be Danny Hakaine's italian voicebank... if you can understand italian listen to his first demo on soundcloud and then listen to the last track I uploaded... I redid the oto and it is much more understandable
It also depends on the tuning of the ust...

Yeah the OTO and reclist are a big part of it. If a voicebank contains the right vowels and consonants, a somewhat-understandeable mimickry can be made.

I don't speak japanese, so I won't comment there, but a lot of voicebanks are fairly understandeable as long as you don't push the limits too much. But if the reclist or OTO isn't good, then no, it won't be completely understandeable.

And since your question was directed toward non-english voicebanks, I have a limited knowledge of Spanish but am usually able to understand spanish utau/vocaloid quote well if they are used properly and have a decent reclist/OTO.

I can speak portuguese. And my friend is making an extremely good progress with our language. He's making his own reclist. =^^= Also it's his demo.
