pitch bends

How do you edit a control point at the beginning of the note so that it doesn't 'stick' to what the original pitch is?
I see .usts where the first control point of a note starts on another pitch and when I play the .ust file it pitchbends as normal.
When I try that (and two points are directly above/below each other with no red line between) I get this horrible autotune sound where the pitch jumps.
(picture of what i mean is attached)

Just move it away. For that example it the pic, move the lower control point to the right. You'll get the hang of the control point logic.

You know that pink underline under the lyric? That is the duration of the note's sound. The pitch bend in the pic is outside the area of the pink underline so the auto-tune effect won't be manifested when you play it.
