I think it's just to show that Ruko is both sexes.

Maybe it wouldn't have to be said of she didn't look 100% female. (I'm not mad at you, I just really don't like the character)

Plus it's a fictional character so of course they're not going to be realistic. In addition to this it makes the voice more versatile for usage,,,

I guess I just like some real aspects to the utaus I use. Unless they're expressly not human. Maybe that's my unpopular opinion.

I just don't like her, and I don't like how she doesn't really accurately represent a person that they are describing her as. Hermaphrodites are basically androgynous. But if you look at just her face. (No hair, no body) Then you can tell that she's female.

I'm not telling you to not like the character, just explaining why I don't.

I wish people would focus more on USTs and original content than just spam making Voicebanks-

Ex: Look at the Arpasing directory- there are tons more Voicebanks than USTs.

(I know I'm guilty shhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

I understand your point, for being written as 90% male it's strange (And I don't really like the character, I'm neutral towards Ruko :P)
[doublepost=1501810328][/doublepost]I don't like most English Utau I hear, some sounds seem superficial or something ;-;

- likely already said, but i don't care for multipitch lol
i know there's circumstances where having multiple pitches can make things sound really nice, but a monopitch that's done well can be just as appealing imo.
i guess my only real quarrels with it is that it's the "standard" these days, and to me, it's just extra work. i guess that makes me lazy, but again, i don't really think it's necessary if a good monopitch can sound fine as well.
- (really unpopular but i'm biased because ive done it lol) i don't hate "altered" banks. altered, being that the sound files have been enhanced (pitch changing, equalization, etc) i think that if it's done right and sounds believable, there's nothing wrong with it. i mean i suppose it's in best interest to have always have "raw" samples, but idc if it's altered so long as it sounds fine. these things usually make banks sound bad or less realistic so i can understand why it's looked down upon, but ye.
- idk if this is unpopular or not, but i literally don't care about design or names at all. i've seen people saying it's bad to have a "vocaloid" inspired design for their utau, but there's nothing wrong with it to me?? idk i was a young kid when i got into this stuff, and i thought teto was a vocaloid at one point lol. i like it, actually, when utaus have appealing designs like this. (ofc it has to be done WELL, that's my catch) but if it's ORIGINAL and doesn't look bad, who cares. (ofc i mean the character is original- original hairstyle and colors, not DIRECTLY STEALING vocaloid elements lol)
other things i don't care about are names and stuff (specifically "-loid" endings) i mean sometimes if it's cringey, it's ehhh but i typically have no quarrels with it. let people do what they waaannnntttt
i retired the -loid name my utau used to have because it was making me cringe lol but still, no reason not to use the bank if it sounds fine.

i guess that's all i have to say about these things. thanks for reading if u diiiiddddd

Personalities don't matter for me. There are headcanons for that tbh. I understand that someone cares a lot for their utau, I do myself, but its an instrument; the personality doesn't matter. Even if it's a happy-go-lucky one, if someone wants they'll sing The Lost One's Weeping or Gigantic O.T.N. Tho idk if thats really unpopular, but I've seen a lot of UTAU with set personalities.

Alright, I'm going to be set on fire for this, but I still don't fully understand the hype with Arpasing. Yes, it doesn't take as long to record, but it somehow makes even less sense to me than VCCV. I feel like this is going to become a standard or something, where VCCV will be looked down upon in a manner not unlike CV vs VCV. It could be me worrying about the future again, though.
I'm pretty sure I said this before, but realistic tuning is just the sliiiiiiighest bit overrated. Same goes for the voicebanks with XX-number of pitches. It's your choice, of course, but there's a point where it's just too much. How is that not damaging your vocal chords? (that's actually a question of mine, since I can barely make it through one pitch)
Finally, as said above, names don't matter that much. This is more of a personal thing because I'm always waiting for someone to comment on my UTAU's name. I even worry that people avoid her because of it. Don't judge a book by its cover!
...To be fair, she really needs an update, but still.

I have a naming gripe. Like not singling people out but this is a thing that seems to be going around to name your banks after sexualised names Ive seen some very borderline softcore design with names to match being made by under 15 year olds it disturbs me as an older user. I mean your entitled to do what you want with your own voice bank but personally i find it distasteful and disturbing. Another thing with this, don't age your character 9 years old and have it have a x rated freaking hobby GOD

It will be really unpopular? Why sriting UTAU stories if we use it only for music?

Would it be alright for me to respond with my thoughts on this? I know this thread is supposed to be each person bringing their own ideas to the table, but I feel like discussing this in particular. I'm not sure if my response would 100% count as an "unpopular utau opinion".

I feel like we should take it to pm, to discuss it there? But i'd say go ahead. Discussions with you are usually quite interesting and have actually helped me understand things better (reading your discussions and direct ones)

I think I'll start a new thread, actually. I'd like to hear more people's thoughts on this particular topic.

OKAY SO I haven't really read many of the comments on this thread so I'm sure most of my opinions have already been stated at least once or twice here, since they're fairly common actually.

1. I find the whole 15-20+ pitch UTAU thing to be extremely overdone and hardly useful in the least, for numerous reasons. (Now that I scroll back up I see that this is stated several times sorrysorrysorry)
2. Kissing up to those of a more well known status or whatever will not make you popular, just like spamming yourself all over UTAU related social media won't immediately gain you publicity.
3. CVVC can be just as smooth as VCV.
4. I feel like the overly Vocaloid-esque design a lot of people give their UTAUs is overdone and also at the same time kind of lazy, creatively speaking. I feel like UTAUloids should have more creative designs that suit them for who they are, not for the vocaloid stereotype they might sometimes be associated with. (By vocaloid-esque, I mean mostly the 4644643 UTAU concepts you see on the wiki that are only a stone's throw away from being Miku/Kagamine Twins knockoffs.)

I also have to say sorry because this is unpopular too. think that the -ne xxx is tooooooooooooooo used... and sometimes also uselessly used. Like, for example... Why Kasane, Momone, Sukone, Namine, Yamine etc.? And also it can be sometimes stupid. Yamine=sound of darkness... but why, if Renri's voice is all but darkness? And why EVERYTIME Japanese names even if sometimes we have the accentish UTAU? It's not for discriminating all foreign (I'm foreign), but it's a paradox

These sound more like popular Utau opinions(I agree tho)
