Critique Requested First cover ever - Baka Mitai with Matsudappoiyo

Seishin Hermy

Momo's Minion

Hello, I'm new here and, while I've been a Vocaloid and UTAU fan for many years, I've only recently started messing with UTAU myself. This is my first cover ever so I made my own UST from scratch to get more familiarized with the software and to better train my ear as well. I'm excited to share it here and maybe learn something from the more experienced users!

Problems I'm aware of: The timing is a bit off sometimes, and I added too much reverb.

this sounds fantastic especially considering it was your 1st ust

the only constructive thing I can tell you is to pay close attention to the volume of the vocals while mixing to make sure it sounds consistent. I used to mix by setting a single volume for the vocal tracks and that always resulted in certain parts being too quiet or too loud. then I found out how to use a tool to manage the volume more closely. it looks like this in my program of choice

it looks like this for me

the yellow line represents volume

idk if theres anything like that in the program you use but anyway your cover sounds great and I hope you make more

Thanks for the tips! Honestly I am not too familiar with sound editing software in general and just slap my stuff together in Audacity... I've seen mentions of Audacity being pretty terrible for mixing so I'm trying to figure out what are good free alternatives worth learning.
